i went to myrtle beach a month ago and we went to the ocean blvd and i seen it was just a big field now and just few trees but we lived there since i was born and we moved away in 2005 wished i still lived there today
Pavilion was cool. Im from Ohio and vacationed there a few years back. I was kinda young probably about 12 and can remember Hurricane, the Log Flume and the other good rides that made the park what it is....well was I guess.
@JohnnyBear3 lol though the thing I couldn't stand no more of that park was its music it played. They had the same playlist of songs playing over & over again for years. Got kinda sick of the disco music.
@TheRetroZombie well myrtle is a tourist area..... so it has decent people from other places so when i was their i NEVER got stared at for dressing GOTHIC. well actuly it was emo not gothic.... but sc is a very country state..and goth isent the most poapaular thing in that city.......do ple even know what goth is their? i hope thier not THAT old fashioned.
@gotthkid2 Well in the highschool I go to there is goths/preps/nerds like any other school but a lot of camo jackets. I don't really like the style though.
I wish I understood why a city that had everything going for them could make such bad decisions like this one .. THIS WAS MYRTLE BEACH. Who elected these people, they have ruined the whole MB experience for young and old.
I'm 22 from Baltimore, spent all my childhood summers in Myrtle Beach with my grandparents who lived there. Every Christmas they gave me an all Summer pass to the Pavilion. Loved it... Miss it... Damn Burroughs and Chapin! My favorite ride was the Rainbow...nothing like looking over the Ocean with the breeze in you're face, watching people across the street and on the roof of the Gay Dolphin...Truly grateful for the memories!
@bbros1925 I could watch videos like this a thousand times and always feel like crying, I basically grew up in this park.. year after year I saw it change and become into the greatest park there ever was. I just wish that I could take my son and let him see the amazingness I saw as a kid, but now all I have are the memories.. :'(
@markinshelbync (sorry, i see your post is a year old) The old haunted house was my favorite too!
I miss the pavilion. I haven't been back to Myrtle Beach since its been torn down, but I will someday, and it hurts to know that its not going to be there waiting for me.
I can almost smell the corndogs, the sunscreen, and the salty air....
great video! It tears me up inside to know that the pavillion is gone. I went there every year as a kid--I'm glad this video showed that corny old haunted house ride!! that was my favorite!
Is that Chicago doing that song? I've never heard that song before, but it sounded like Chicago to me.
no ofence bvut i just don't get wut's soooooo special about the pavillion and why everybodys like depressed because it closed. i mean there are nine of the exact rides that got transported to broadway at the beach and now we have freestyle music park
Gah, I miss the Pavilion so much. I grew up in the Pavilion lol. I just wish I could bring my 6 month old son. I wish I could give him the great experiences I had as a child. The Pavilion was one of the best. I cried so hard when I found out it was closing. MBSC will never be the same without it. Losing the Pavilion was like losing a best friend for me.
i loved the pavilion i miss it.. my favorite rides as a kid had to be the haunted house, the little boats in the water, and when i got a little older the water log ride -- kissed my first girl at the pavilion when i was 12 at birthday party--
Lol. I know ur comment is old. but it made me laugh soo much, i was tickled lik a lil kid. but yea the rainbow was one of the scarest ride i ever rode. i use to scream so loud on it. i miss the pavilion as well.
i didnt know they had colsed it down that sucks ass im going there in a couple of months and i was looking forward to going there.how long has it been closed it has been awhile since i have been there.
ahh.... =( so sad, i loved that place soo much i like grew up in the pavilion, im from mbsc and i think u did a great job with this, deffently one of the best =)

I miss that place and whenever I have children I can't take them there because of stupid, greedy Burroughs and Chapin.

Worst decision of the new decade was letting the pavilion go! Land has been empty for several years now and nothing seems to be planned!

Yes, the ride at 24 is the Rainbow. It was my favorite ride at the Pavilion. The Rainbow had been there since 1985 or 86, whichever year they got it.

I remember the ride it shows at :24. It always reminded me of the care bears van thing and the lady that stands on the side always scared me.
