when i hear this....i remember the last scene of oceans 11...when the movie was getting over...i just wanted to cry because....after the end of the movie i realized that this was a movie and not a real story :'(. I wish I was there with them....I will be there always with them...in my dreams :'(
There is an incredible, overiding sense of joy and possibility that one feels when listening to this joint. And though this song was not of the sixties, nor was Mr. Holmes around during that blessed good time (save for his birth year of 1969), "69 Police" calls up that feeling of "everything's doable" that that time in our collective history encouraged. Amazing song. Thanks David...
@TheMarkc we where a couple for 6 months we went on vacation together i told her that i love her(and i truly did) and for response she left me with no reason and went back to her old boyfriend...i am a HUGE sucker for loving her!!!you possibly couldn't imagine how she left me.but is my mistake for loving people.A man can be happy with any woman, as long as he does not love her.Oscar Wilde said that not some common guy and i am afraid is totally true!!!
I remember the 1st time I heard this was just after I had been to Vegas to see the Rolling Stones and the impact of the city was fresh in my mind and even though I was on a bus in Northern Canada this music still gave me goose bumps. I can close my eyes and easily be on Las Vegas Blvd at night with those fountains making a trippy display of dancing water and I can see the crowd all along the edge of the water in rapture watching it. Funny how music can evoke such a deep feeling...
@19nervousbreak Is it the music itself or the association? What I mean is, would you feel the same listening to this song if it was from say Spongebob...
@SummitTwelve that's a stupid comment. Of course it's the association that the music brings. It evokes an emotional response. That's his entire point. If he had a sentimental attachment to spongebob, then yes he may have an emotional response to the music. You know that.
@SummitTwelve Try to use a subject when you form sentences. Otherwise, they are just fragments. I was making fun of your point by stating that it was obvious, but that does take an understanding of nuance. The person you were commenting on never denied that it was the association. You felt the need to explain to him his own ideas. You know that. You're comment was superfluous.
@SummitTwelve You certainly are simple; that's true. You claim you don't care yet you still feel the need to say something. That's the origin of this argument anyway. You don't contribute anything of value when you comment.
@turboleaf You certainly are arrogant; that's true. You claim to know the character of someone by the comments made on youtube. The origin of this 'argument' was your unneccesarily offensive comment. Out of all of your ramblings I have yet to see you contribute anymore.
@SummitTwelve I'm actually quite sure that you are a pleasant person and probably if when knew each other we could be friends. I found your initial remark to be ridiculous and I expressed it. I'm sorry if I came off as offensive. I only used the words stupid and simple. Don't be so quick to judge my tone either. A playful argument can develop into something it did not intend to be. I like our mirroring of phrases. It's pretty clever.
@lifeworld1977 Wow... that was all kinds of creepy... Was it saying it was composed for Jesus, when it was clearly not? Was it calling Jesus "the American God"? Was it saying all of this about a song with "69" on the title? Again... so creepy...

@turboleaf Thanks for explaining what I had already said. What's actually stupid is how tried to make a point by making the same point I made. Idiot.

This song was composed in praise of Jesus Christ - the American God.
