Wow ! What an ambitious cake ! Would never have thought of the tubes for the tree trunk ...what about pretzel rods used in the same way ? And chow mein noodles coated in melted butterscotch chips to make up a nest ? or tiny branches? a choc bird bath on the grass with a bird bathing in it ? some mushrooms at the base of the tree? Just throwing ideas out there. Fabulous cake. Your daughter must feel "my mom can do ANYTHING !". I bet she is so proud !

@SeriousCakes Yes, I saw part II and left comments about how awsome the cake turned out. A real work of art ! Full of interesting little pockets of bird. I can see now why the pretzel rods wouldnt have worked. You did an amazing job. Yes, when our kids believe we can do anything its a mixed bag but as long as they know that we are always doing "our best" it gives them inspiration & faith in us and themselves. Shine on !
