OMG, I am so happy I found this video. I cried just know that I am not alone in this. I though I was the only person in the world that did this. I use to have such lovely skin. And being a black lady, my skin pigment dose not heal well. I have dark spots everywhere and trying all the creams to get rare of them, but yet I still have the need to pick.
i feel the EXACT way as you do! what i really like about your video is when you talk about feeling self conscious around when they probably do not even notice the acne.
@rishiv037 The pus is actually dead white blood cells that have already fought the infection that was under your skin. When you see the white head, the spot is already on its way out. The skin that is inflamed and raised will shrink back down and dry out, and the white will disappear, or escape of its own free will. Occasionally a spot will pop no matter how gently you wash your face, but mostly if you leave them they just dry out and dissappear.
My picking is getting worse and worse..and it drives me crazy because my face looks like it caught on fire and someone tried to beat it out with a pitchfork. I look terrible. I've managed to stop for two days and go completely insane if I don't pick scabs, pop pimples, clip skin tags, pull hairs, etc..etc..My forehead is scarred and my legs are gross. I use makeup to cover the facial spots but people are ignorant and always ask about the sores on my face. I'm completely depressed about it.
I just had to tell you that your 30day challenge has inspired me. I don't have acne, but I have suffered with dermatillomania for a long time and now I have reached a place where I am serious about stopping skin picking. I have tried things before but this time I have drawn up a chart so I can tick off each day that I don't pick, and it's only this first day but it is already very hard! However I am willing to go through the uncomfortableness and beat this. Thank you so much for inspiring me.

THANKS! for posting the video! I find that too people will say I have wonderful clear skin but in my eyes I feel like my skin is absolutely horrible, I know its largely in my head now, and I also have dermatillomania. I still always think its worse than it is, I really don't believe people when they say otherwise!
You obviously took this woman's words out of context. Compulsive Skin picking (Dermatillomania) is a condition that affects FAR more women than it does men. She was not referring to acne itself, which as we all know, is felt by both men and women equally.
I'll thank you very much to keep your "stupid bitch" remarks to your uninformed self next time. :)
wow! I just found this. i can't believe there are other people like me out there. i've looked up every "disorder" this falls under. but obviously sitting in front of the mirror for an hour (for years) squeezing blackheads doesn't fall under any particular category. no one thinks it's that big of a deal, or how much it can contribute to your self confidence (or lack thereof). i'll be checking out your site!
well; I have to say, I can't see a thing on your face, but I am very envious of your GORGEOUS skin on your chest/neck/shoulders. At least you don't break out there like I do! I feel like this causes even more suffering in my case, because I live in TX and swimming is almost a year-round past-time, so friends REALLY wonder what's wrong with me when I don't want to leave the house all summer
yep, the mind is very powerful, after i started doing affirmations for beautiful and clear skin, it has improoved dramaticly. now i just need to stop picking :p
i honesty do not know why i have this pimple ive looked on the internet and stuff i dont have the stuff i use and ..i just woke up with it i just want to know if thers a way to get rid of it with out having to pick it or buy anything
nice video. i also realise that anytime i ignore my face for a long period of time my acne reduces. like she said its all in the mind. constant looking at the mirror would create a mind set that a new pimple just appeared on your face. this is a very helpful video.......thanks

I've just managed an entire 24 hours without picking, which sounds silly but is a huge acheivement for me. Thank you :)

Sure, I'll see what I can do. I'm releasing an ebook soon about back and chest acne for men. That'll help you a lot. For now:
1. Work on balancing your hormones - naturopaths are great!
2. Find a sensitive body wash (look for cetaphil)
3. If it's not severe, exfoliate in the shower regularly with a loofah or one of those puff ball things that are designed for body wash.
4. Eat well :)
