These videos are awesome! Thanks! I have a question that you may be able to help me with. I am working on a story that will at least require two books to write, maybe a trilogy. Should this structure be applied to each book individually, or to the overall story? For example, in a two part series would I end book one with the 50% mark and continue from there, or would I end the entire structure and start anew on part two?
"AWESOME" REALLY.....the word went out of style in 1994. It telegraphs just what a mindless, no imagination twit you are. After you showed me what a follower you are, I need to hear not another word.
architectus, this is an amazing tutorial. its everything a tutorial should be--clear, descriptive, and it has an organized feel to it, somewhat like a presentation. i really appreciate this a lot, i can't tell you just how helpful this has been. thank you so much!
Thanks a lot, I'm a want-to-be teenage writer. I know what you are thinking, but I'm not like most teenagers out there, I do want to make a descent book and I don't care about being famous. I just want to write for passion.
Has anyone ever figured out how to use Plots Unlimited by Tom Sawyer and Arthur David Weinngarten. I've had this book for years and still can't tell if it's me or the format is just overly complicated.
@architectus777 Well it's an updated version of the book Plotto by William Wallace Cook. People say that one is difficult to, but I wish I could find it for a reasonable price. Plots Unlimited is pretty cool, but damn complicated to figure out.
Thanks I am so glad to have found your videos. Reading Plots Unlimted makes you want to scream. I've read instructions of that book off and on and when I think I've figured it out I realize it still doesn't make since. Someone mentioned Plotto by William Wallace Cook that predates PU, but the book is usually in the $100's, because it's old and hasn't been republished.
been bustN my ass tryN to write dialogue for the first time - I found a really cool lecher on itunes by Christopher Vogler - Using Myth to Power Your Story Part 1 of 2 - for only 5.99
OMG - thank you - you upgraded the concept w/ a new mind-map - about 3 weeks or so ago you jump-started my interest in a play I was kicking around - thank you for all your efforts - you sound like a really cool dude - are you a Capricorn?
I wish you would send me a clearer more crisp hard copy of this mind-map - for inspiration so I can create my own - I have done a ton of work on my play thanx to you! - are you on facebook?

briangunn21 3 months ago
@briangunn21 That's the difference in a writer and an editor... we are allowed typos! ;)

@rsims87 I'm sure your editor thinks you're a nightmare!

@briangunn21 I'm not far enough along to have one yet, but they probably will! :)

Actually, with the three act system, many stories have multiple sets of those.

@TVwriter23 I've never read it, but a lot of writers make this idea complex. I explained it in a way that makes sense to me.

Okay, what is the Monkey Wrench in clear English?
PvtFreddy 2 years ago
If you continue with the series it should make sense. The Monkey Wrench is something goes wrong. This is when Neo wakes up in the real world.
architectus777 2 years ago
@PvtFreddy The Monkey Wrench would be the "inciting incident", the spark of the problem to be solved--something changes: there's a turn in the road.
