@mycamguy I imagine the main thing that changed is the feel of the movie. The actors are different, the audience is different, the new version has colour in it, so it basically changes the entire atmosphere of the movie. Regardless of the director, the fact that the audience changed means he has to adapt the movie, which (if you liked the original), might mean the new one will not be to your taste.

Babluani is fantastic. The remake is also going to be written and directed by him, so, though it will be different and take place in New York I expect it won't be bastardized. Plus Mickey Rourke is featured in it so I expect some very heavy acting and probably more character development, which should be cool. I'm keeping an open mind and hoping for the best - this was a great film and now more people will be exposed to Babluani's work.

This movie's one of my favorite of recent years. I've turned so many people on to this. It doesn't 'tell' you what's gonna happen. You've GOT to pay attention/ The wonderful black & white, the music (of the little there is), the NON use of music, and just letting the action play out. I'm on the fence about the remake. This film was made NOT with a lotta money, but a lotta love. Hollywood's a great place to suck that out of anything

THe thing about the re-make is that the original writer and director is doing it - so they aren't farming it out to some Hollywood hack. He's a very creative artist and on top of it, he's written a new character thats being played by Mickey Rourke. To me that is a big plus. I think the orignal is great but the new one has some big pluses that most re-makes just don't have. I expect it to be different but it could also be great.  There was room to develop character.

lol, they're remaking it in English mid november...how about you actually spend the time watching the ORIGINAL film with SUBTITLES, or is multitasking too hard a prospect for you to grasp? 13 is a very good, solid film and a Hollywood remake, despite it being by the same director will undoubtedly lose the subtlety that was imbedded in the first. And to the original poster...yes this movie is well worth watching, although as a word to the wise, the first 25 mins are slow going, be patient.

I attended the Notre Dame screening of this movie with Gela Babluani present and this movie is extremely tense. Very well-made movie, the main character (Babluani's brother) is amazing. If you get a chance, see this film.
