@bluebikerfly Oh god i totally misunderstood you. I thought you were saying you wanted to know who the owner of the video was and that you thumbs downed it because you hated it so much... Wooooops.
does anyone know about the two slightly different versions of this song? One appeared on Enter and is less intense (the guitar has a little less distortion in the opening riff) than the other. I happened to have both in my music library, but I've always wondered why there were two slightly different versions. Same goes with You Already Did.
All you music snobs are a bunch of queers. It is what it is. Listen and enjoy or write your own. You know what they say........"Opinions are like assholes." and yours stinks.
@SordidSleeper it seems like he's playing a modified "Purdie Shuffle", created by Bernard "Pretty" Purdie which Dave himself has cited as a drummer he looks up to.
Dave Turncrantz carrys this band . I will probably get shit for saying this but this album ENTER is one of my favorite things to listen to and never gets old . I don't know what happened on Station and Geneva but I cannot even listen to those albums . Mikes guitar playing seemed like it became real uninteresting on Station and Geneva . The use of his loop pedal was sick in Enter seems like he made the riffs blend better than he did on the newer things .
@townshipps Disagree. It's apples to oranges to... pears? Enter's songs are more disjointed. Kind of like reading a book. It's the same story but there is definitely page turning going on there. The bass guitar is busier and a lot different than the next two albums. With Station I felt like it was the most melodic guitar wise and it featured the guitar. The bass kind of dropped out of this one, but I think it's because the new bass player was still trying to find his voice.
@tofuleg The bass was definitely busier when Collin was playing with them and I like Collins tone a lot better . I know it's just my opinion but that fuzz bass tone solo on their song Geneva reminds me of Korn or something super cheesy . The songs on station and Geneva are also so much longer and drawn out and get boring so easily I lose my attention listening to it . Anyways what it comes down to is I love the rawness of enter and just thought that station and Geneva were a little produced
@townshipps i felt the exact same way about station and geneva when they came out, after seeing them live my opinion on theyre new records completely changed and as much as I fricking love enter, station and especially geneva are pretty sick.
@townshipps oh yeah and word to that i hate bryans bass playing colin's playing was so fucking heavy and raw, half the time you cant even hear bryan or his gross fuzzy bass tone sounds like another guitar... when i saw them live it was pretty much mike and dave running the show, i could barely even hear bryan... im really sad i never got to see them with colin
@townshipps Geneva, it seemed like the songs were a lot more cohesive as one entity and more atmospheric. The production on Geneva was IMO the best too.
Very rare to encounter a live video on youtube with such killer sound. Thanks, man! Also, I don't give a damn that the whole thing is Dave Turncrantz. He's the one I watch 90% of the time live anyway. ;) (And that's coming from a guitar player.)
1.actually its a drummer and a guitar player, the bass player plays with These Arms Are Snakes and helps Russian circles.
2. some things are fun to watch, some things are fun to hear and some things are fun to watch and to hear. AS MUCH AS I LOVE Mike Sullivan (guitar) its not that fun to watch him play, he plays great riffs, but most of them repeated over and over. in my opinion in post rock the drummers are more important then the other players....but hey, its just my opinion.
@Selustarius Listen, in every fucking music genre everyone depends on each other! If any og the musicians can't stay tight it will sound awful anyways! No exeptions! ;)

Correction: Brian Cook is now the official bassist for Russian Circles. This was announced at the release of Geneva.

@bluesenight If you think the drummer is the most important part of a post rock band, than you are listening to the wrong post rock bands :)
