  • more like dave turncrantz live

  • @Lawlbunnies I filmed this as part of a documentary on drumming I was doing at the time. Naturally, I filmed Dave the most.

  • @YogritMUN its a good thing because hes awesome

  • @YogritMUN do you have the documentary available online anywhere? vimeo?

  • @jprenderg Yeah it's in my channel. It's called Drumming Is Subjective. I made it when I was like 17 so don't laugh.

  • i use those sticks!

  • i would like to know who the owner is of this thumbs down! immediately!!!!!!

  • @bluebikerfly Jesus, what did I do wrong?

  • @YogritMUN haha why dont you like this song?

  • @bluebikerfly Oh god i totally misunderstood you. I thought you were saying you wanted to know who the owner of the video was and that you thumbs downed it because you hated it so much... Wooooops.

  • @YogritMUN hahahaa no dude

  • does anyone know about the two slightly different versions of this song? One appeared on Enter and is less intense (the guitar has a little less distortion in the opening riff) than the other. I happened to have both in my music library, but I've always wondered why there were two slightly different versions. Same goes with You Already Did.

  • The drummer is amazing! :D

  • The drummers is totally amazing! :D

  • All you music snobs are a bunch of queers. It is what it is. Listen and enjoy or write your own. You know what they say........"Opinions are like assholes." and yours stinks.

  • 4:23 What a sexy polyrhythm! <3

  • @SordidSleeper it seems like he's playing a modified "Purdie Shuffle", created by Bernard "Pretty" Purdie which Dave himself has cited as a drummer he looks up to.

  • Dave Turncrantz carrys this band . I will probably get shit for saying this but this album ENTER is one of my favorite things to listen to and never gets old . I don't know what happened on Station and Geneva but I cannot even listen to those albums . Mikes guitar playing seemed like it became real uninteresting on Station and Geneva . The use of his loop pedal was sick in Enter seems like he made the riffs blend better than he did on the newer things .

  • @townshipps Disagree. It's apples to oranges to... pears? Enter's songs are more disjointed. Kind of like reading a book. It's the same story but there is definitely page turning going on there. The bass guitar is busier and a lot different than the next two albums. With Station I felt like it was the most melodic guitar wise and it featured the guitar. The bass kind of dropped out of this one, but I think it's because the new bass player was still trying to find his voice.

  • @tofuleg The bass was definitely busier when Collin was playing with them and I like Collins tone a lot better . I know it's just my opinion but that fuzz bass tone solo on their song Geneva reminds me of Korn or something super cheesy . The songs on station and Geneva are also so much longer and drawn out and get boring so easily I lose my attention listening to it . Anyways what it comes down to is I love the rawness of enter and just thought that station and Geneva were a little produced

  • @townshipps i felt the exact same way about station and geneva when they came out, after seeing them live my opinion on theyre new records completely changed and as much as I fricking love enter, station and especially geneva are pretty sick.

  • @townshipps oh yeah and word to that i hate bryans bass playing colin's playing was so fucking heavy and raw, half the time you cant even hear bryan or his gross fuzzy bass tone sounds like another guitar... when i saw them live it was pretty much mike and dave running the show, i could barely even hear bryan... im really sad i never got to see them with colin

  • @townshipps Geneva, it seemed like the songs were a lot more cohesive as one entity and more atmospheric. The production on Geneva was IMO the best too.

    Gotta love Russian Circles.

  • These guys are just so flippen good.

  • friggin' awesome with three pieces

  • Say them in Montreal recently... amazing vibrations. I think Dave's sweat hit me in the face!!!

  • They are really good live, sounded just the record, and thanks for the great quality.

  • Great video Thanks for posting this and the 3parts of that interview. My new favorite drummer

  • amazing performances for a 3 man.. no mistakes. wonder how much amphetamine the drummer eats before a show

  • The recording is AMAZING! I've never heard the bass so clear in this song!

These guys are awesome, I've seen them play live 2 days ago..I still cant believe it!

  • Thanks man! it was all recorded on my on-board mic (Canon GL2). I was surprised myself at how well it came out.

  • Very rare to encounter a live video on youtube with such killer sound. Thanks, man! Also, I don't give a damn that the whole thing is Dave Turncrantz. He's the one I watch 90% of the time live anyway. ;) (And that's coming from a guitar player.)

  • I'm gonna see these guys tomorrow at the echoplex in Los Angeles. I am so excited.

  • I loved the video and the way it has been shot. oh, and yes, I am a post-metal loving drummer ^__^

  • seriously.. i want some of whatever this guy has taken to play like this and think the way he does.. as a fellow drummer, this guy takes the cake.

  • 1:25 to 2:50 is the best

  • Jean Paul Gaster's drum set!!! Clutch is badass!

  • People have to know Russian Circles is a band, not a drummer.

  • Read the info.

  • 1.actually its a drummer and a guitar player, the bass player plays with These Arms Are Snakes and helps Russian circles.

    2. some things are fun to watch, some things are fun to hear and some things are fun to watch and to hear. AS MUCH AS I LOVE Mike Sullivan (guitar) its not that fun to watch him play, he plays great riffs, but most of them repeated over and over. in my opinion in post rock the drummers are more important then the other players....but hey, its just my opinion.

  • Correction: Brian Cook is now the official bassist for Russian Circles. This was announced at the release of Geneva.

  • @bluesenight If you think the drummer is the most important part of a post rock band, than you are listening to the wrong post rock bands :)

  • @Selustarius Listen, in every fucking music genre everyone depends on each other! If any og the musicians can't stay tight it will sound awful anyways! No exeptions! ;)

  • I think he is one of the best drummers at metal he is so sick!

  • the drummer is awesome!!

  • The songwriting is excellent, and they're tight as hell on stage. It's hard to believe they aren't more popular. Only a matter of time...

  • Yeah, they're going to get big for sure. Easily one of the best bands out there right now.

  • for me it's all about the guitar in band, i love it, but this... it's all about the drums, i fucking love this guy he is a genious [can't spell it] the band is one step above epic

  • Who were they opening for, by the way? I see another drumset in the background.

  • Clutch

  • 3:41 I believe he broke a stick!

  • 2:22 that foot work is killer

  • One of the most epic intros in Music.

  • His drumming is so tight, i fucking love his style
