I am surprised to see skidrow marked on the rig like that.They had a mural in a Vancouver firehall depicting skidrow inside the truck bay some human rights people complained and they had to take it down.

Amazing department... So much they deal with and do, for so little in return, a true salute to them. However I have been wondering, what apparatus is kept at 9? I can't find anything out on that.

Awesome video clip, but it doesn't matter what city you are in, no Fire Dept should be rated less, they all do a tough job and are all brothers. Keep in mind when we have national emergencies Fire Depts from various cities get called to help each other out wherever needed. Also, to anyone wanting a career in the fire service, go for it, don't get caught up with all the ego talk and bragging of how many buddies or friends you know in the FD, the academy usually weeds those people out : )

LAFD does have explorers. I've seen some in 94's, 68's, 11's, 13's, and 27's. They wear sky blue shirts with blue dickies. They have a patch on their right shoulders that says "explorer". I haven't seen any on 9's though.

@shaycarl21 Stop trying to show off, its a COUNTRY LAW that no person(s) should WORK under the age of 15 and its ANOTHER COUNTRY LAW that no person(s) shall be any type of "Worker/Explorer" for Emergency Services.

@Crazyfogfighter Even with that being the case, I don't think anyone in their right mind would allow a 'junior' at LAFD 9. 9 is a very dangerous district, the point of a 'junior' program is to do just what you said, but with relative safety. Putting them in hi-crime areas, where they can easily go from "Savior" to "Victim" in seconds cause of some druggie wanting their fix out of the truck's drug kit, is absolute insanity,

@shaycarl21 LAFD has explorers but their called cadets and not explorers. Practically its the same shit. But being that your 14 you cant go on ride alongs. The youngest age that you can go on ridealongs is 16 and most departments its 18. The only way that you can ride along sooner is if your family member is working at that station and you have consent from the chiefs.

There was but they didn't mean anything bad by having "skid row" on their trucks it was meant as a homage to the people they serve. They had the skid row removed. The trucks say central city now.
