Throat problems, he had throat cancer first later they found it had returned and spread through his whole body, lungs, brain, etc. God Bless RIP George!
Ah, it must have been knacking his throat to be singing like that. All credit to George for going out and performing, rather than cancelling the tour due to illness. As for changing the lyrics, I personally couldn't care less!
What happened here? George sounds like a deeper Bob Dylan.. It's well known that he changed the lyrics around (Much to fans dislike) so no surprise there, but his solo is weak and submissive! Still it's George Harrison and we're lucky to have had him. Great job putting the film(s) together!
I saw George at the Boston Garden on December 10, 1974...his voice was rough...the band was cookin'.....BUT...it was George Harrison of The Beatles!!!
This is amazing. I remeber the flack he got ( we read it in the pres here in Oz and it was brutal .I think he was evolving and any chance we may have had was - destroyed. my fave to this day is Lennon - but equally George was a component like a yin and yang in post Beatle development. Almost saw him at a deep purple gig but pulled out last minute and he turned up and jammed. . Can we sue the media??
Oh my God, I can';t believet hat someone's FINALLY gotten round to posting video of our George in '74! It was the first real rock and roll show I'd ever been to, and who better to pop your live show cherry than George Harrison! I knew there had to be some footage of these gigs out there somewhere and I'm thrilled that someone has finally decided to share these historic peformances for our viewing pleasure. Thanks so much!
@opalasattic I have also been wondering if there was footage of this concert out there especially any video from the Chicago show I attended on November 30, 1974 as I cannot remember the concert! So I was Happy to find this and I did find footage from the Chicago show. I had forgotten that George was sick during the tour.
Dylan's vocal delivery in the versions of this he's been performing since 2001 sounds almost exactly like Harrison's here. "something in the way she MOVES me." Bob must've studied the bootlegs.
@ottomarcos I was there in Ft. Worth, too. I hated how he did "Something" because it was my all-time favorite song, and I hated to have it ripped. BUT, I did enjoy the rest of his show. I thought it was great to see him come alive like he did without being overshadowed by Paul or John. At last Paul couldn't tell him how to play his guitar!!!

@SenorZorrozzz Very well thought out criticism. You're obviously a very bright person or at least you think so. You stink.

Thanks for posting this. Simply a great post. George shows why he was a member of the greatest band of all time.
I like his tour of Japan with EC . This gig from Fort Worth Texas however is fantastic.
