@Felipe140396 incorrect!! This a 747-400D used only by the japanese domestic market. the reason these -400's have no winglets is because winglets are only effective for long journeys. ANA and JAL use these -400D's for short haul flights around japan.

-400D (Domestic) Is used on japan interisland flights, They do not have winglets as they offer no fuel saving benifits for the short duration hops. They also have strengthened landing gear.

Lowers drag caused my wingtip turbulance caused by the lower pressure air on the top of the wing, mixing with the higher preasure air on the bottom of the wing. Studies show however, that there is no added benefit on short duration flights. So the added weight of the winglets has no added benefit. Hence the reason Boeing decided not to put them on the D variant.

Actually no, its a -400D. This 747-400D varant are used on high capacity domestic flights. So Boeing decided to remove the winglets which gives the regular -400's range.
