  • 1:07

  • Most heartbreaking moment when she asks: how, how do you do this to someone?

  • May I regard this film as "philosophical"? Some of lines I had heard already are naturally thought-provoking <3

  • There's a moment, there's always a moment, "I can do this, I can give into this, or I can resist it", and I don't know when your moment was, but I bet you there was one. ----> WONDERFUL

  • Such a perfect film

  • disappear? :|

  • oh nat, i'm you in this movie right now and it sucks, it hurts really bad. we deserve better.

  • Nobody is perfect and just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have. No other movie has shown me the wide range of emotions when in a relationship. This movie is amazing!

  • Sorry. IRRELEVANT!!!

  • Dan: "I love you!"

    Alice: "Where?"

Look at his face trying to understand what she meant with that. Priceless!

  • She's such a great actress.

  • can someone please add captions? i can't hear.

  • I love when Alice said "You're a piece of shit." No one could have said it better. Exactly what I would have said to Dan actually...

You know, I've heard about people cheating on their partners with someone unimportant, i.e., where there was no 'need' involved but Dan's excuse that he cheated with another woman BECAUSE she didn't 'need' him is unbelievable and disgusting, at least to me...

  • haha I watched that moment when she said, "you're a piece of shit." over and over again. I love portman in this movie.

  • but it happens alot....en its true...when women give their all to someone ..the guy finds it boring after...guys want to be challeneged...en rejected...its sick i cant agree more

  • men and women are different and our motives and reasoning diff as well...when she says there's a moment, there's always a moment guys experience those moments far more often..it may be a one sided opinion but i think women are wired differently and therefore shouldn't judge men through their eyes..its a biological diff..men need to pursue and women need stability and prefer a provider..its based on the evolutionary naure of human beings

  • I love this scene. Natalie is incredible.

  • This movie was hard to see because I always reacted as:

"WHAT? How can you cheat on NATALIE PORTMAN!?"

"WHAT! How can you hit NATALIE PORTMAN!?"

"WHAT! How can you leave.... you know.

  • that is true there is always a moment after that u do the right thing

  • One of my favourite scenes. "You're a piece of shit!"

  • i love this movie n everytime im sad i love to watch it..lol i knw sad

  • I saw this movie back in 2004; many of these words were said when I broke up with the man who I thought was the one.

It's just so honest. And Natalie Portman's performance just remarkable.

  • i think we all relate to this scene..in some way lol..sad but true

  • "i don't need things."

this movie was sooo captivating. i can't get enough of every second.

  • @travillion7 yes, yes, a million times yes

  • This movie is amazing.

"....How does it work? How do you do this to someone?"

    Amazing.

  • Natalie Portman is amazingly Hot, and looks great in a Thong!

  • "It's because...she doesn't need me".WOW. I remember first seeing this in theatres back in Dec.2004 (I was 20) and having no idea what that meant, and thinking it was kinda backwards. But after having relationship and attraction experience in the few years since then, it totally makes sense, and it's not just true for men, women too.I have to admit, and yes I'm aware it may be a bad thing, but I'm more attracted to someone who doesn't necessarily 'need' me as opposed to someone who really does.

  • Love is Move

  • natalie portman is amazing

  • You always love them and give them everything you have. It's never enough. Doesn't matter how pretty, funny, smart, sweet you are. They're never content.

  • " it's because she doesn't need me " the most fucked up but god awful honest line when it comes to men.. jesus christ this movie pulls the punches ..

  • well I guess, we men are just stupid animals. We can have the greatest woman in the world and still after a while we get bored.

  • @CultSphere98 You know, that line makes me laugh! She doesn't NEED him....she loves him, it's the only reason she stays. Shez the only character i liked in this movie; she was independant, intelligent and untameable. As the ending showed...nobody really knew her at-all.

  • @rebe1angel I agree. I think we are to identify with Alice, or should I say Jane. For all her stoic independence and her emotional toughness, she appears as the most vulnerable figure in the film.

  • @CultSphere98 sooo true...

  • @CultSphere98 whoa man hater

  • this is the most beautiful scene of the movie, I feel for her.... i totally know how it feels... and i cry every time i watch this... there is always a moment , and i dont know when your moment was, But i bet you there was one....

  • i know that feeling!

  • The whole scene needs to be put together for this. Brilliant in every aspect. How could he ever leave her, she loved him and gave him everything she had.

  • thats exactly why he leaves her! Shes so needy!

  • i luv dis scene, esp.when shes like ur a piece a shit!!!!the way she says it,i love it!!

  • "it's because she doesnt need me", that's such a cruel thing to say to the girl who loves him

  • it's because Anna is a replacement for his mother. As Jane says later "He wasn't a bloke, he was a little boy." - Dan needs mothering from a woman who won't emotionally rely on him - vice versa. Something's missing in him because his mum died.

  • I like your comment!

  • wow great analogy. i totally understand that now.

  • why wont somebody post the entier scene damnit

  • Men are pigs. They're selfish and completely myopic. lets just kill them all.

  • that'd suck for reproduction

  • poor Captain Sky

  • "its because she doesnt need me"

  • "how do you do this to someone?"

"as if you had no choice, there's a moment! there's always a moment!"

i love this movie.although i can't help but think of a certain someone when i watch it,broke my effin heart.

  • Yes, those are the best lines "Oh, as if you had no choice? There's a moment, there's always a moment, "I can do this, I can give into this, or I can resist it", and I don't know when your moment was, but I bet you there was one."

This movie describes the most intense relationship I have ever had, to end like this...

  • "you're a piece of shit."

  • I guess she didn't need him after all. Funny how after that happened he wanted her again. I've experienced this.

  • "deception is brutal"

    "i don't need things"

  • my fav scene :(

  • Natalie is great at crying in movies. I think it's her haircut and small frame that reminds me of the little Natalie from The Professional, which I think is by far her best film.

  • it breaks my heart

    Natalie is the best !!!

  • Best scene ever and it's true (no duh!) that there is always a moment. You can give into it or you can resist it. I resisted.

  • Between Natalie Portman and Clive Owen, they both made this movie. I can't stop watching Clive's scenes as he (his character) and Anna are nearing their heated argument.

And when Natalie cries, it's just heartwrenching. I agree, this is one of the best scenes, but luckily, it's accompanied with Clive Owen's heart-stopping performance.

  • "Because she doesnt need me"

    "Theres always a moment"

    awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • luv this movie!
