Hi, i'm sorry for my ignorance, but i'd like to know who's the composer of this beautiful music, coz if i'm not wrong it's not the music of midsummer dream of Mendelssohn, right?
These are Tsiskaridze and Zakharova (Bolshoi Ballet) as Oberon and Titania in Neumeier's Midsummer Night's Dream. The music was entirely written by Mendelssohn. This is Overture from Athalia (op. 74) included in Midsummer Night's Dream (op. 61). By the way I prefer Balanchine's choreography, costumes and staging.
nope....it's the wedding pas de deux of Theseus and Hippolyta....they're danced by the same couple as Oberon & Titania....if i remember correctly Neumeier did this so that it's left to the audience to decide if the the forest scenes were a dream or reality....
@sajoth Yes, they're Theseus and Hippolyta. Same dancers portray Oberon and Titania which appears in the fairy world scenes only. Its quite easy to define if they are mortals or not by the change of music in the ballet. If its the orchestra, your in the mortal world, and if its the allien like sounds, then you're in the fairy world. :)
I LOOOOVE A Midsummer Night's Dream! Am I just crazy, or did I see the girl mess up a couple times? Anyways, she was beautiful and had unbelievable extension...boy do I wish I could lift my leg like that! : ) Thanks for posting!
standing at the sides.....afer the wedding march Helena & Demetrius have a pas de six with 2 soldiers and their wifes/dance partners....this is then followed by Hermia and Lysander in a Gardeners dance with corps de ballet....then come Bottom & his buddies who perform a quite funny piece...which is then followed by this final pas de deux between Theseus & Hippolyta
wonderful!
great!

Wow, they are amazing!
Just judging by the costumes, though, wouldn't this be Theseus and Hippolyta?

Going by the costumes, yes, I agree. But they're not. They're definitely Oberon and Titania.
