Truthfully, i think it has to do with the marketing/advertising agency behind the ad.
Most creatives working behind these ads are anywhere between 25-35. Most probably have tried skateboarding at some point, and watched X-Games when it first was introduced.
Not to mention, all the young new age corporations who actually DO have skateboard parks at work.
there just saying, how companies ad new things or ideas, the half pipe was unexpected , was the punch line.
