This scene means so much more. It perfectly portrays Merlin's character and the sorcerer he is going to become. He mercifully gave Lancelot his life back for a couple of seconds so that he could die peacefully. Lancelot knowing his thanked him for that small act of kindness. This foretells the merciful, powerful Warlock Merlin is developing into. The light to Morgana's darkness, the love to her hatred, the mercy to her vengeance, the kindness to her selfishness.
He was the greatest and knoblest heroe, he was one of the very best characters and the music and that scene was the most heartbraking ever on Merlin, for the final time it was farewell to Sir Lancelot.
Every time I think, that Colin can't possibly get any better, a scene like this comes up and he once again amazes me with he's talent.
A heartbreaking scene. You can see how much Merlin has been missing Lancelot and it clearly meant a lot to him to see the real Lancelot, even just for a few seconds.
So beautiful, I cried also remembering Merlin had to do this for Freya. I'm glad Lancelots gets a real burial as apposed to disappearing into oblivion on the Island of the Blessed!
of all the drama and heartbreak that happend in the eppisode, what got me, nearly made me cry, was three words form one friend to another. "merlin. thank you"
No, no, no no! That's too much! I hate Merlin writers now. Lancelot? Really? Why? He was one of the best characters, and not fair, that he hadn't got a chance to show himself, as Arthur friend, great Camelot warrior, as KING'S knight! Merlin is not my happy place now. I'm really sad, pissed off, and now idea what else!
@misspendragon27 I don't think Merlin was trying to get to see Lancelot. I think the spells meaning was to free Lancelot's soul and give him peace. Lancelot coming to life for a short moment was more of a happy side-effect and I don't think Merlin was expecting that to happen.
@movielover459 Because Merlin retrieved his soul from oblivion (after being sacrificially kille don the Isle of the Blessed), and gives him a proper burial!
Colin is a fantastic actor! This scene really touched me :) Am I the only one that thinks this episodes is one of the best 'Merlin' has ever produced?
Seriously, this season! - the acting, the quality of the writing, the sets, the characters ... EVERYTHING has just got bigger and better!
On a side note: I may not be a shipper, but seriously?! lol ... he burried/sent off Lancelot in the same way he sent off Freya? Oh the Lancelot/Merlin slashfandom is going to EXPLODE! :P
