It's an absolute shame the coditions these brave men and women have to work under in Detroit..it's nothing new here to have the city default on an engine or a truck and have it reposesed then have to use old worn out equipment in place of good decent equipment it's a testament to their bravery and dedication that more people are not killed and more of this city hasn't burned

Wow, are all Detroit firefighters that fat? That one guy could hardly climb the stairs and he must have had one eye since his depth perception was off by about a foot. Seriously, this must be Detroit's volunteer bunch or C or D squad. Try being a little more fit you bunch of fatties.
My perception of your comment PEEWEE is that you know nothing of the fire-service. 1- you state one guy could hardly climb the "stairs". Those are RUNGS you are referring to on the ladder. And this firefighter was carrying a charged hose line up the portable ladder that was fully intended at a straight angle because of the rig's position behind the portable. 2- You should stop by and see some "Detroit Volunteers" in action. You WILL learn a thing or two. Even from their E Squad.
In response to the first question he was doing that to protect the building on the right from catching on and what happens when you put water in the window or in a room the water creates steam to help extinguish the Fire.
I'm trying to figure that brick falling thing out too. But then they also seem to be using a small hoseline for that size fire. Took them way too long to pull out the big guns and put it out. Looked like they were sitting around shooting the breeze
Once they turned on the latter hose not long - all flames were gone within about 20 minutes from when I quite taping. Not sure how long it was burning before I arrived.
I know! she barely even lifted her head - and I can confirm that in real life the bricks hit just as close as it looks on the video - the ground shook under me. crazy.
I can't remember the street but it was off of the Lodge heading in to downtown detroit, I believe it was around the Wonder Bread building, I saw it from the street and worked my way back there following the smoke until I found the building. I could check the time stamp but I'm guessing it was around June of 2000. Take care, let me know if you have any other questions. Steve
Wow ....this section of Detroit looks like a target rich enviroment for fires.........was this some sort of urban renewal process?

Can you say this civillian has a death wish. This is why the police and firefighters have the fire scene tape, to keep everyone back.

Can you say collapse zone? These firefighters seem very casual about being beaned by bricks.
