This song came out when I was in my terrible twos, I absoltely love this song along with most of OMD's songs, I play them all the time my mother hates this music
I grew up in the 80`s in the middle of no where. No where to go, nothing to do. All I had was music. I always had a radio or walkman with me, there was nothing else so all I had was music. When 1989 came I knew it was the end of a era, the end of the most important decade of my life. Sure enough when 1990 arrived, everything changed. I didn`t even bother to celebrate on new years. When the Scorpions tune "Wind of Change" came out in the early 90`s it couldn`t have been more true.
Lovely song with deep feelings, about a guy crying for his girlfriend. Don't dare saying it out loud today ! People will say you are a fag... Really, those same people have no feelings anymore, what a shame ! Damn I hate the 2000's !!!!
Though I often cite The Smiths "The Queen Is Dead" as changing my life in eighth grade, in honesty it was OMD's The Pacific Age, and this song that made me buy that cassette in seventh grade that truly altered my world. On one hand I'm fortunate to have the BMX AC/DC five-years older next door neighbor to style my cool on and make my first record at age 5 "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap", on the other what could prepare anybody for music stylings as ego-free and beautiful as "Forever Live And Die"?
this is a true 80's classic done by a true 80's classic band, OMD....their vocals are solid, the lyrics hit home and the videos are cooler than the junk they call music over the last 15-20 years....thank goodness for the you all on You Tube to post this video and include the lyrics, I play it over and over, taking me back to a special time in my life and hopefully for all your lives as well!
@svartskegg Hello my dear ! Sorry to tell you that we had a wonderful evening with OMD tonight. The guys were top shape, singing well, dancing well, laughing well and talking so much with us. They were really pleased to be there !!! Good memories came back. 80's rocks !!!!! Forever !!
technology killed the craft of creating this style of music. These guys learnt how to play their instruments, and the romance of the eighties that got people out from the seventies made the lyrics ..this stands true to many of the bands of that time and era... can never be duplicated, just be fortunate to have lived it.....
@1122hamilton2211 I'm so glad im a teen not in the 80s. I can listen to all of this music that you liked in the 80's and all of the good music from the 90's 00's and now. It's also super accessible now.
Compared to their early 'synth-genius' this tune is a bit stop-start and doesn't really flow ! With the bouncy bass line and as for the 'brass' section ?? It shouldn't have really worked - but having said all that I still bloody LOVE IT !!

Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God! How long I searched for this song! I didn't know the name or the artists. I just knew a very catchy snippet of the song and I loved it. After five years I finally got it! Oh my God!
@mishim100 Don't ya just love it when that happens? I'm still waiting to stumble across something that I always heard while I was working in a Hill's store in the early 90's. Still have no clue what it was...
This was my most favorite OMD song of all time. I like this way better than "If You Leave", because "If You Leave" is strongly overrated then and now. I rarely hear this song nowadays. This is the first time I heard this song since at least the late 1980s or maybe even 1990. I also like 1988's "Dreaming" too.
This song came out when my grandfather passed away. Grandpa you might off not been your daughter's biological dad but you were the best dad & grandfather, miss you grandpa this song is for you!!!
This song still sounds fresh- omd, depeche mode, new order /joy division etc -great music and a great time period. It's too bad nowadays when you listen to fm radio, most stations play "hit for a week" disposable music made by disposable artists!
can't and won't get tired listening to OMD's songs like this one. makes me wonder why "artists" today can't come up with wonderful lyrics and such fine melodies. all we hear is sex, bling bling, money and almost all the crap you can think of in todays' music, if you still can call it as such though...
@mydvinecebu it's because they don't care about the music. it's just a path to making money and fame, albeit short-lived. but you're right about never getting enough of 80s music.
@mydvinecebu I completely agree with you ! I had the chance to see them on march 6th and it was awesome, magic ! I falled in love with their songs once again after 25 years : ) No more values today, no more romantism like in the 80's, yes we have an amazing technology but what happened with the rest of it ? People don't take the time to meet up and do simple stuff like going for a coffee,a movie, etc Instead they wait to chat through msn...So sad ! Forever 80's !!! Greetings from Montreal ; )
