I grew up in the 80`s in the middle of no where. No where to go, nothing to do. All I had was music. I always had a radio or walkman with me, there was nothing else so all I had was music. When 1989 came I knew it was the end of a era, the end of the most important decade of my life. Sure enough when 1990 arrived, everything changed. I didn`t even bother to celebrate on new years. When the Scorpions tune "Wind of Change" came out in the early 90`s it couldn`t have been more true.

Though I often cite The Smiths "The Queen Is Dead" as changing my life in eighth grade, in honesty it was OMD's The Pacific Age, and this song that made me buy that cassette in seventh grade that truly altered my world. On one hand I'm fortunate to have the BMX AC/DC five-years older next door neighbor to style my cool on and make my first record at age 5 "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap", on the other what could prepare anybody for music stylings as ego-free and beautiful as "Forever Live And Die"?

this is a true 80's classic done by a true 80's classic band, OMD....their vocals are solid, the lyrics hit home and the videos are cooler than the junk they call music over the last 15-20 years....thank goodness for the you all on You Tube to post this video and include the lyrics, I play it over and over, taking me back to a special time in my life and hopefully for all your lives as well!

These guys learnt how to play their instruments, and the romance of the eighties that got people out from the seventies made the lyrics ..this stands true to many of the bands of that time and era... can never be duplicated, just be fortunate to have lived it.....

This was my most favorite OMD song of all time. I like this way better than "If You Leave", because "If You Leave" is strongly overrated then and now. I rarely hear this song nowadays. This is the first time I heard this song since at least the late 1980s or maybe even 1990. I also like 1988's "Dreaming" too.

i saw some pictures from Paul Humphreys these days, and man, he looks terrible!

Bollox...all it takes is the knowledge to re-programme the sequencer parts. It's hardly rocket science. That's not to underestimate OMD at all, who I think are a great duo and great songwriters. However, let's not linger under the illusion that what they did cannot be recreated.

synth movement, whatever, whatever. . It doesn't matter how you label it, you must understand the "feel" they are defining as their art... In this case, they perfectly define the 'feel' of the 80's, which means to me anyway, and I know art is subjective, but to me their work is a perfect artistic expression of what the 80's felt like. This is NOT easy to reproduce/create, and that is why all the truly great artists (painters, musicians, etc), are FEW.
