  • timebox - beggin' - timeless. Great record in the 60's, great record now. The other versions don't get anywhere near this

  • You never thought a white band would be able to produce such soul!! Respect!

  • NO SOUL... Beat is to high

  • @Ismai207 plenty of soul for us "northern soul" lovers

  • timebox > madccon

  • Flame me too baby.

  • Najjaca pesma BB!!!

  • madcon suck dick lol

  • After checking Timebox for the first time through the YouTube Mix: WALL O' SOUND?! Could be the best of the best!

  • SMOKIN'! Hands down one of my instant favorite newly discovered track of the 1960s. This arrangement does not quit. To borrow from Lou Rawls - 'Can't get enough of this track, baby.'

  • this is the original version? i liked the remix of madcon

  • Oh no, not as good as the original or Madcon's. Not as groovy.

  • @homeofbrokendreams no, the first version was released by franki valli & the four seasons, but i think timebox version is the best

  • this was released a year after the original - and beats it hands down!

I love the way he says 'you'.

  • OK version but lead singer is way too weak to be compared to Frankie Valli!

  • in defence to this song i find none of them different to the original the are exactly the same they have not been altered in anyway listen to them on with out your ages getting in the way they are the same just made to accommodate with the times of its day but if you have look you know what this song this is if you had heard the original because neither timebox or madcon have changed them so with that it is your ages that your opinions come from

JUST LIKE THE DAMN SONG WILL YOUS!!!

  • I love the original by Frankie Valli and the Seasons from 1967, but without the success of "Jersey Boys" renewing interest in their music and, in turn, reintroducing this song to the masses, Madcom would never have discovered this long-forgotten track and covered it resulting in a world-wide smash. Madcon's version seems to follow the Seasons recording much more than either of the other two versions featured on You Tube. That said, Timebox and Shocking Blue both turn in solid performances.

  • so this is where that friggin sample came from...i was just searching randomly, lol....i dont even remember what new thing it was done for, but i know for sure, the key was higher..

  • Amazing what gems you find on Youtube, this is one of them.

  • best

  • This the original version. French version by Claude François.

  • Very good french version by Claude François : " reste "

  • you just have to move them feet to this;)

  • the best version of this song!love these guys...

  • @yukoko94

if youtube was ther in those times this would get more views and Frankie Valli would get even more

  • Geez... I don't what you people are on. This version isn't nearly as good as the original. Hmph... whatever.

  • @yukoko94

frankly speaking if it wasn't for the Pilooski reedit of the original tune, madcon wouldn'ht have a hit with their poor and cheap cover of that great song (Timebox does actually justice to this song, their cover is the best version)

  • @alexdelaville Well, I personally think that all versions are nice. Don't blame madcon for trying okay? =)

  • @alexdelaville

Well said sir! This is definitely my favourite cover.

  • @alexdelaville frankly speaking if it weren't for the homeless man begging Fankie Vallie for a cigarette, thus inspiring him to write this song, we would not have known how great it is.

  • still think Franky Valli and the four seasons made the best version but this is great

  • @alexdelaville agreed

  • @alexdelaville hey man music of different generations is always different, i personally like the original, this, and madcons versions. there are alot of different styles of music that people listen to and actually like and having a limited perspective just limits the discovery of listening to something you might like because similar artists and songs of the time are "crap" so chill out dude

  • it fits the culture and times it was made in. It was re-made in a diff genre and there are people who appreciate Madcon's version a lot. there are a lot of ppl who never heard of this song until Madcon so there is some validity in yuko's statement. Wut exactly mades it cheap? cuz it has a rap verse in it? everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion and I frankly like this version just as much as madcons (not so much jersey boys) because it is a diff kind of a rhythm of the same song.

  • @alexdelaville i TOTALLY agree with your post. Thats the f*cking truth.

  • @yukoko94 French version : Claude François.

  • @yukoko94 Oh yeah? I came looking for the song because of the new NBC promo for a fall series about Playboy Bunnies! HA! This is the UK version and it's VERY good as well.

  • @jsbach15 I kinda posted that a year ago... I don't even remember posting it @_@

  • Thank you for posting this - took me right back to '68 and waves of nostalgia - sounded so good then and still does I think. The guy has so much passion in his voice and the whole song is really good. There are a lot of songs, like this one, that I think would get back in the charts if they were re-released. Music from that era is unbeatable. I'm glad I was around during those times when the world was still so full of hope, loads of jobs and a far better place. :o)

  • Just love it, in my opinion by far the best version. It had so much energy when it was released in1968 and it still does.

  • love this song

  • The best version by far. Thanks.

  • Mike Patto = BAMF

  • violoncello sounds just great

  • A flash of brilliance, not an ounce of fat on this.

  • brilliant northern soul

  • good copy but shocking blue is better shawy

  • fucking fail god damn it!!!!!!

  • Hey that's great!

  • This puts the madcon version to shame!

  • i prefer this version to frankie valli... great track!

  • please someone put together a compilation of all the cover versions, headlined by Frankie cos I would be the first person to buy it. All are great but the original by Frankie Valli and the four seasons is untouchable

  • It's the cool vibes (probably played by Ollie Halsall) that makes this version stand out from the rest.

  • Beggin' was written by Bob Gaudio, an original member of the Four Seasons who wrote and produced a lot of their material, and notably produced several Neil Diamond albums starting in the 1970s, and Peggy Farina (aka Peggy Santiglia), the lead singer of the Angels. Peggy spoke the words "He went away and you hung around and bothered me every night"

  • This the orginal Frankie Vallie cover it from Time Box

  • i like the music but not the vocals.. u gotta give it up to frankie valli

  • Im 46 and I prefer Madcon's newest version much more soulful I never liked Frankie Valli's falsetto voice

  • @madmandy1 lol

  • wow seems like all 21st century muscians just steal any and anything from the 1950's/60's/70's/80's

  • This is fantastic!!

  • Ohhh.. I like this a lot!

  • yes, this is the best version. This is British group, they use to play a lot on the Marquee club, London.

  • definitely better than the original....awesome!

  • i know ill be flamed to death but this version is just better than frankie valli !!!

    their i said it ....

    come and get me :)

  • I agree mate, this sounds great

  • @spookyman so true

  • @spookyman since this is the first time I'm hearing it, and I've loved the original all these years, I must disagree, but only because you say it's 'better' and not simply 'your favorite'. I do like it, very much, but nothing will ever best The 4 Seasons version for a lifetime fan.

  • @spookyman

I concur. This is the better song.

  • @spookyman

Oh well. That's two of us , at least, for burning. This is my favourite version.

  • Is this the original version?

couldo you aswer me on my channel?

    thank you?

  • no it isn't

the original version is by Frankie Vallie

    this is a 60s cover

  • @alexdelaville the oridginal is from four seasons

  • @otapedi

no the og is frankie valli

  • ..this one is good, but i'm searching for the original frankie valli... can someone send me the link please?? i can't find it..

  • YES!!!

    I'm Nr.135,000

  • eta versia nravitsa bolshe. this version much better, like it more

  • the fact that this song stands up so well to so many different takes on it is a testament to its composer. You know you got something when it survives a hundred alterations and still is the same song. As far as the new remix goes, they are hardly remixes they just turn up the bass and drums. It totally relies on the strength of the original.

  • haha wie geil die echte version klingt fast soger besser ;g

  • Featuring Ollie Halsall on vibes - later to go on to become one of the most influential guitar players ever.

  • Every version of this song sounds so damn good. Safe to say I love them all.

  • That's true, there are some songs, real masterpieces, that different versions with diffferent performers are also beautiful! That's one of them. I think, the same happens with "Ne me quitte pas" by Jaques Brel.

  • @GcYoshi13 Yeah, I agree, this song can be made in any genre. Even metal is possible IMO. :D

  • lol what's with yall thumbing down all the people who like the madcon version? everyone's got different tastes. i like the original song and the madcon version, but this one gets on my nerves something terrible. i feel like i want to punch the guy's face whenever he goes "yOOooOOou" and the constant "yeahs" make it worse imo.

  • Don't know about you guys, but in my opinion, I think madcon's remake of this song was more of a flow to my ears.

  • Dude, it is NOT madcon's remake. The re-edit was done by Dj Pilooski as a part of his "Dirty Edits" project. Madcon just added his (not so good) rapping, which only ruined the song's mood. Timebox version is about the best one - with all respect to Mr. Frankie Valli.

  • Probably already been said, but this sounds like a Bond theme. Should be used as one eventually.

  • Kicks the Valli version's ass to kingdom come. Very well-produced for the time.

  • I liked the Frankie version but not enough to buy it so I bought this as I liked the fuller sound especially the Vibes in the break - still got it somewhere.

  • Excellent Version, but not better than the original.

  • The original is a classic and i'm glad madcon renewed so well. :)

  • Definitely....THE BEST.

  • the best version!!!

  • Totally agreed...

  • Constructive comment from mierecords. Quality mate! Keep thinking...with your arse! Looking at your profile wasn't sure if it was head!

  • this is immaculate to dance to with full need to take over the whole check floor!

  • I kinda like the newest version.

but, I Gotta stick with Frankie Valli. :D

  • briliant

  • jus put yuor lovin' arms around me baby

  • Man i love this song, no mather which version

  • WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT???? YOUR COMMENT MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL! Please explain. When I read your comment, at first I thought you were just slightly stupid, but then I read your profile and saw your were from Israel.

  • the drums in this version are nice. anyone know what year this came out?

  • apart

  • Madcon can kiss my ass.

  • mine too!!! ;)

Frankie valli's original is the best, this version is awesome!! and shocking blue's one is not bad. the new madcon version is just unnecessary

  • Lol it is. It's so annoying.

  • Wonderfull soung! not my type of Music but i love it ^^

  • i agree

  • I like this song so much, I´m not tired to play it every day. I´m a spanish mod-fun...

  • much better than frankie valli`s version.

  • i'm ok with you!

  • Yep.

  • Naahhh! Don't buy that stuff about Frankie Valli, thou' great he may be. Forget him and listen to this. These geezhers do a FAB job..great production great voices..well cool!

  • Yeah but without Franki Valli there wouldn't be a song to remix?

  • Great Cover. But Frankie Valli will always own this song,

  • eccezionale

  • Mani from Primal scream chose this as one of he's all time faves.

    Good Call.

About C. Françaois : the whole man and his covers are forgettable.

  • very hot version

  • AMAZING SONG (y)

  • Love this, but I think Frankie had got the edge, its that one note guitar line in the chorus makes it special.

  • oh yeah, this version is :D:D i like frankie valli version, madcom; vanessa petruo..etc are ok but i prefer frankie valli, and very people think that the original version is madcom.. (N)

  • its from 1968, orginal was from 1967

  • Comment removed

  • this is 1967 ???

  • Very Good The Song

  • ahhh quality.

  • Very good version, the beat for the new one tho got me breaking like a maniac. However this one rocks me very well.

  • My sister and I have fantastic memories of this brill song from the 60's...

  • Err...How come I've never heard of these guys?!

    They were excellent!

...A bit like The Zombies really...They were there, but bands like The Beatles and The Stones seemed to get the better of them...

  • I've always loved this version. It's just great.

  • good version

  • i love this song

  • i like this, but i still like the 4 seasons' version better though

  • I agree completely

  • I love this version! I think it deserves to be played more often on the Northern circuit.

  • nice..gotta love the original.. this sounds more like a breakbeat to me. sick tune

  • baby yeahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

  • a mi me gusta mas la original y la de madcom

  • Love my blue eyed!!!!

Can I make myself unpopular??I reckon Claude Francois "Reste" is freakin' LEDGE!!!!!!!

    They both are,right? :) xx

    Gihsa

  • Agree, I love "Reste" too!

  • J'adore cette version :)

  • originals are always the best ...groups today dont know how to be original

  • Pure brilliance, Iceman4886 must really be arseman, seems that's where his taste is anyhow

  • the best version

  • I too searched out this track after hearing it on Liza's show.... great version, but not available on iTunes alas.

  • I heard Martin Freeman say that two of Timebox were later in the Ruttles on the Lisa Tarbuck on Saturday. Love it!

  • Just one actually - Ollie Halsall - playing vibes on this (2nd left in picture)but later switching to guitar and going on to be acknowledged as one of the greatest rock guitarists the UK ever produced.

  • Of course the original is the best, but this is a very, very close second. Fantastic cover; great vocals! 5 *

  • The Angels [ of My Boyfriends Back fame ] AKA The Halos, brought out a reunion CD in late '08 featuring this track. As they hail from Jersey I guess there will be a connection with FV over the years.

  • love this - always fills the dancefloor when I play it.

  • top tune

  • It's a really nice edition , but well my opinion is that frankie is better :/

  • best version

  • I love this song. Cool!
