  • Videos to communicate, videos to sell products in shops, video adverts/monitors placed inside the brick work of buildings as you walk down the high street. KCC are very switched on, very in touch with todays world, and seem to be providing kent with GREAT services ahead of anybody else in the same league. Camera phone videos cost nothing, your absolutely right, but it does look terrible. The cost of professional video is coming down, but the difference is priceless.

  • Utter idiots! Fear not the KENTISH NATIONALIST MOVEMENT will be coming very soon! Thanet council first on the list!

  • Nice one Tony. I heard (the video seemed to be down) the meeting you mentioned. There seemed to be a lot of talk about stopping paper advertising of jobs. At least the money stays in Kent for that. Why are they not planning a VIOP service as well. Thats cheap stuff. Maybe its all vanity on the part of KCC.

  • but the whole point of having an online service is that people can access the information whenever they want, so anything broadcast live will still be archived and made available for others to watch at any time. Look at the Public TV format.

  • Public TV is not funded at the expense of local taxpayers who have no say in what is transmitted, also it is highly unlikely there will be any sort of critisicm allowed either about Kent council or related councils within the Kent area. It will; Im sure, be another propaganda machine for the powers that be. Dont think that you will have any form of say in the programming, Like the Public TV format, because you wo'nt.

  • I think you're missing the point of the TV Channel, This doesn't mean content isn't on demand. It just provides a dedicated platform for people to access video material in the county of Kent.

  • I think you will find, that they are refering to broadcasting or streamins stuff at certain times of the day, which would include news I assume. Check out the cabinet meeting( I think 16th april) on KCC site also take a butchers at the report which if not on their site by should be I have a copy I can email which refers to schedule and streaming broadcast so think what I said was accurate and to the point! Yes their will be video on demand but since they have that capability right now.

  • Why spend more 1.4 mill its our money!

  • I would assume that news broadcast would be made available as RSS media feeds, and so the latest news will always be available to users visiting the site. The rest of the content will always be available to those visiting the site. I'm sure Live streams will be available for those who want to watch a particular program live...

  • I am waiting, in trepidation of the complete hash they are going to make of Kent tv. Maybe it will be like the Margate 'Exodus' film that Artangel organised and they, (and their cronies) will just walk away with the money, knowing people have no real way of complaining. Where has that 'film' disappeared too by the way, maybe you can find out Tony?

  • Although a publically funded instrument (at enourmous cost for an internet based service) it will be highly unlikely that the proposed Kent TV station will have any method for the public to contribute anything. Any associated discussion groups are likely to be highly moderated as well.
