  • But if you take it with protein won't the amino acids compete with each other?

  • Can you do a review on BCAAs?

  • GREAT review. VERY helpful. And get as nerdy and geeky as you want to, the more info the better it is for us. *Subscribed* *Thumbs up*

  • can i take creatine and glutamine together???

  • Do you take l glutamine with protein shake or water

  • @pac818k it doesnt matter how you take it

  • My main reason for using this supplement is so I don't get sick after a few weeks of intense training. Its the only supplement I take besides my vitamins and calicum tablets.

  • Comment removed

  • More supplement vids there great

  • when do i take this? before or after workout?? can i take it with my whey protein after my workout?

  • @CoDVaRiaTionZz i take a whey protein shake BEFORE my workout and then whey protein with the glutamine AFTER my workout.

  • glutamine is great, besides whey protein its the only supplement i take. remember guys no supplements will help if you don't have a good diet. put it like this.... supplements are a like a nice pair of tires....a nice pair of tires on a crappy car and it still looks and runs like a crappy car, put them on a lamborghini and it went from a 9.9/10 to a 10/10....... it will help you but you need to start with a good car (diet) first for them to make a difference

  • @reallyletsdoit Its the good diet that works not the supplements.

  • Hey Jeff, I just recently started the program and its great so far, I just wanna know, what is your opinion on MUSCLE MILK, Ive heard a lot of mixed facts and opinions about it, and I just wanna know the actual facts before I decide it put it into my body (considering its the only protein drink at my house), I need to hear the facts from an expert. Thanks

  • Just buy protein with glutamine in it.

  • invest in a damn tripod bro.

  • Hey would this be safe for a teen around 16yo to take???

  • @mahadeon yes

  • Jimmy Smutters told me to take glutamine, should I do it?

  • Hi Jeff is that a GNC brand you are featuring? anyone?

  • @toolboy33 yes.

  • @infamous721 Thanks, they have this new one out by GNC.."Amplified Creatine" i dont know if that is true or just another marketing scheme. Anyone has a say on that?

  • @toolboy33 Id say that it is a marketing scheme. Im new to creatine but m friends use it alot and they say that plain creeatine monohydrate is the best.

  • @infamous721 Yeah I think so too, thanks for your thought.

  • unfortunately glutamine raises my cortisol levels.

  • l-arginine??

  • considering the fact that the body absorbs 5 grams at once, can I use 5 grams of glutamine+herbalife in post training?Because Herbalife has whey protein and soy protein that has glutamine, all right? So,isn't it a waste of glutamine?

  • This was very informative!!! Im using Glutamine now but really didn't know what all it does. I just know that when I workout out with it I don't stay sore for nearly as long as I do when I don't use it.

  • Can u review protien?

  • Hi Jeff, I eat a paleo diet (my recovery is awesome, i don't take protein powder) so i'm fairly high in protein and I'm assuming that I get quite a bit from the foods I consume (eggs, chicken, beef, fish pork) and im 18 not fully grown. I workout pretty intensly as well. Do you still feel that 2servings of 5 grams on top of what i already eat for that extra help is too much or just fine?

  • @Issaquan5

Dont go for supps they are shit and a waste of money foods the answer, go organic if anything from a proper farm not supermarket shit. Supps are the biggest con ever invented, just like workouts that are supposed to fit all.

  • please please please review whey protien

  • He Jeff out of all the supplements you reviewed what would you say are the most important from 1st to last

    thanks

  • years ago when Dirk Pierson and Sandy Shaw were promoting amino acids for GH release, the only study I found in the medical library to support the oral administration of amino acid to significantly increase GH release was done with L-glutamine. It was taken on an empty stomach before going to bed. I'm not sure what the long-term effects of doing this on a regular basis would be and I'm not big on supplements. Spend your money on good food!

  • what age can a teenager start taking Gutamine?

  • @jinx13big glutamines fine for teens! anytime really u can take it : )

  • Hey i was wondering if it was ok to put the 5 grams of glutamine in my post workout drink of whey protein and dextrose

  • GLutamine is controversial as a truly effective supplement. some swear by it but theres recent research that states otherwise

  • Jeff, with all the supplements available, is it okay to take protein, creatine mono, and l-glutamine together post workout ?

  • hey i really like ur supplement reviews. could u do one on Whey Protein???

  • hey jeff i bought AMP L Glutamine and it sais it has 5g of Micronized L glutamine but the serving size is Six tablets, I'm under 200 pounds so i only wanna take 5g of glutamine, does this mean i have to take 6 pills a day? that sounds like allot.

  • @heruvey87 look for glutamine powder not pills

  • i really like ur supplement reviews...could you do one on Whey Protein?

  • REal nice review of the supplements..Thanks, Jeff real helpfull..especially when it came to dosage..

  • Im 5'10" 135 lbs. trying to gain weight i eat about 5 meals a day of lots of red meat, vegetables, carbs and cheese/milk stuff like that. I'm also working out with Jack3d and I'm going to get True-Mass. Is this a good setup?

  • if my whey protein isolate already has l-glutamine in it, will i benefit from extra glutamine.

  • yo jeff, i really like ur supplement reviews, they're really informative and helpful, could u please do one on Whey Protein?

  • @Mason1307 amen

  • @Mason1307 another very good alternative is skim milk powder...it gives you all the protein you need and is also a lot cheaper!

  • this guy shits on vince delmonte

  • if anybody has any input on what you think about "off-days" please reply. for example, every sunday, take a small break from a diet. I'm in good shape and i've been eating really well, high protein, low fat/sugar diet. but holy crap it gets frustrating when the rest of my family is eating an ice cream cake and i'm snacking on a half cup of yogurt. It would'nt be binging, just lowering my diet control a bit for one day a week.

  • Hello. Can Veggiterians Take this Supplement?

  • I am 16 fairly skinny but basically all muscle i want to kmow ur input on weghtgainers is the muscle it adds or mass as good as natural muscle also wat is the most effective ive tried up your mass and is my favorite product so far any better?

  • @billy5388 those things that add "mass" usually just add fat, which will make you look a little bigger, but youre honestly just getting fat. (not worth it!!!!!)

  • Hey Jeff, nice videos and very helpful. Ive bought the altheanX program and it's good stuff, adding onto the supplement videos could you give me your input on Nitric Oxide please. Would be real informative if you made another video about Nitric Oxide or is it another hype product and maybe not worth the time.

  • I like ur supplement reviews...could you do one on whey protein?

  • hey jeff, how should i take glutamine with creatine and proteine and some simple carbs? mix it together? thanks

  • hey jeff you should post a vid on what you think about the Jack3d supplement!!

  • Hey Jeff, how old should you be before you take L-Glutamine?

  • its actually better to take it in the night just by itself (with water) that way u can boost growth hormone release, this wont work as well if u took it with a whey/casein protein

  • Hey JD, what kind of equipment does one need to do athleanx? I'm not really into going to gyms and I have some stuff down in my basement but your website doesn't say anything about it

  • @bludwork a lot of the exercises jeff demonstrates are generally bodyweight/free weight exercises.. you could prob use some basic and fairly cheep equipment say a few dumbells, resistance band and tubing that sort of thing and med/physio ball, nothing else though really just committment!

  • there are actually 12 non-essential amino acids, 20 in total, your body can make the other 8

  • I love Jeff, and i have already purchased the training program and am enjoying some great results. Just one thing, when he was talking about Glutamine and the structure of DNA and the four bases. Im pretty sure the G stands for Guanine. And of the four bases Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine and Thymine, its the ACC ones that code for Glutamine. My understanding was that the liver is the location in which glutamine combines with methionine and arginine for the body to naturally create creatine

  • can you do one about whey protein please?

  • Comment removed

  • My protein shake has 4g of glutamine peptides, does this effect how much L-glutamine I should take? Like u said the intestines may Nt b able to absorb that much?

  • you should become a salesman

  • Can you review Jack3d? (Pronounced Jacked)

  • @MrRageaholic1 In some of his other videos, Jeff has said how he dislikes NO supplements.

  • jeff your looking big baby!! lezz go!!

  • Forget my previous comment, in no particular order.

  • How does something that is manufactured in a bottle more useful than something created from nature (whole food)? Real food given to us by mother nature whether harvested, planted, or from animals, were designed perfectly to meet our needs mentally, physically and emotionally. Guys, supplements are absolutely not necessary. In fact, most companies already know this and are constantly tugging on your wallet to convince you otherwise!

  • @TheShootersTouch The dilemma today is that often we are less than disciplined about consuming only whole food, and even when we do today's natural foods are not like those of our ancestors. (Modern corn-fed beef, for example, does not offer all of the health benefits of traditional grass-fed beef). Also, there are studies aplenty which show that some nutrients consumed in much higher amounts than we would find in food can have beneficial effects.

  • @Tigerpaws9097826

I agree with you. But I think a lot of people have the wrong idea when it comes to supplements and their long-term use & effects. They are no where near a replacement/beneficial then what are bodies naturally produce. One may reep rewards for the short term from supplements, but in the long run, our bodies will have to compensate its bodily funtions some way since these supplements are never supposed to be found this way in nature (isolated, no specific enzymes, hormones).

  • @TheShootersTouch You're probably right in regards to some supplements, though perhaps not in regards to others. I'm just speculating a little, but taking large doses of Vitamin C for an example . . . they've been shown to provide benefits, but a risk has been noted that ongoing reliance on large doses could cause kidney stones. Yet, while the theory of biochemistry does indicate such a risk, there's never been a documented case. Anyway, we'd agree that a more natural diet would do us good!

  • Umm, you don't build new muscle. It's not like a wall. Hyperplasia does not happen in humans. Hypertrophy, which is how you add muscle mass to your frame along with strength, is simply the inflation of already existing muscle fiber with mostly water, a bit of protein and glucogen.

  • im a wrestler and im trying to get down to 145

i was at 178lbs 26% body two months ago and now im at 158lbs 19% body fat

i havent lost too much muscle cus i still lift

but do you think i can make it down without losing alot of my strength

cus that would defeat the purpose of me dropping down

  • @coughkidcough1 I believe as long as you keep lifting, you can get very lean without compromising your strength. If you find that you aren't performing as well or you aren't recovering as fast, you should look at your sleep pattern and general lifestyle first :)

  • @coughkidcough1 I used to do a bit of grappling myself, and some of the guys would cut like 10 pounds plus of just water weight in the day(s) before the fight. Have a chat wit your couch bout that and see if its something you'd be interested in, altho done incorrectly it CAN drain you worse than loosing muscle

  • what about whey protein isolate ?

  • i for some reason feel a stigma attached to taking supplements.. i take protein about 3 times a week and ppl say i should be taking more this more that - is it really necessary? i eat well, and i know its no measure to my success but i weight 167lbs and i bench 110 lbs dumbbells rather nicely, and i squat a very decent 2 1/2 plates

  • @Ji99i3 There are different opinions, so to a degree you're on your own - having to experiment & see what works for you. . Many fitness writers recommend 1 gram of protein per pound of lean bodyweight per day; I find I do my best with considerably more protein than the RDA, but am mindful of a study Mike Mentzer once cited finding that exercising rats gained muscle even on a protein-deficient diet. I do think it's important to take at least a basic multivitamin and plenty of antioxidants.

  • @Tigerpaws9097826 1g/lb comes from bodybuilding and is already way above the RDA even for very active individuals. Studies have shown that at 1.2g/kg of bodyweight, we have the maximum requirement. Protein isn't really all that's cracked out to be. Generally, I agree with the rest of your comment. The focus should be the training and the diet should just fuel that and your recovery. In the end, everyone is just conducting an experiment of one :)

  • @On1L1nk I think what you've said makes lots of sense. While I've seen the 1g/lb recommendation made a number of times, I've never read of any science behind it - so it's helpful to note what the studies say. I've found that something in the neighborhood of 1.2g/kg, as you suggest, is about as much as I am able to either afford or digest.

  • @Tigerpaws9097826 Yeah, it becomes quite problematic and obsessive after that. It ends up for most in the neighbourhood of 70-120gr/day on average. So, you could eat less one and more the next. And you can get that with a chicken breast and a protein shake and maybe some cottage cheese.

  • @Tigerpaws9097826 thank you for the reply. something to keep in mind for sure.

  • @Ji99i3

Outside of whey/food post workout helping facilitate faster recovery/replenishing energy stores I would say your protein intake is probably fine. I asked my vegetarian friend where he got most of his protein from, he replied with the question, "When was the last time you heard of someone with a protein deficiency?" And to tell the truth, to this day I still haven't heard of one. A couple supplements may be good in larger than natural amounts (ie creatine), but otherwise? Food is good :)

  • @MrChompenstein thank you for your reply. ive been thinking of playing around with creatin or glutamine (sorry for spelling) but i dont really know which to buy. i dont want to necessarily take anything more then the whey i already take occasionally, but then again i should be open to trying new things.

  • @Ji99i3

I've really liked creatine when I have been on it. It has tended to make the muscles look/feel softer while I'm on it because of retained water, however when I stop taking it they harden up noticeably (and this may be a acceptable reason to cycle it, say if you want to look better for spring break or something). In my opinion, go with the creatine over the glutamine if you have to choose, especially since you already have a protein supplement.

  • @Ji99i3 if you train regularly you should have about 3 maybe 4 small servings of whey protein powder a day anyway, shake it in some water and down it fast (use milk if u want) and also use two small creatines a day after a workout and before sleep which should improve ur strength noticeably and NATURALLY!

  • I'd rather spend my money on a

    BCAA supplement than glutamine.

  • So is it cool to take a pill form twice a day? 500 mg pills apiece?

  • Any brands in specific that you would recommend or will any work??

  • i have a question here. is glutamine same with L-glutamine? can anyone tell me plzz?

  • Wow, I am impressed.... You do really know your stuff, and break it down for us in a legit formula... Great stuff, thank you....We need more people like you..... your videos have helped me train for my fights (mma) and have taken me to my best so far... KUDOS!

  • ahhhh GNC Pro Performance Glutamine!

  • oh one more question. I coach two 16 year old girls who are vegitarians should they be taking glutamine supplements?

  • As a gymnast do you really need to supplment this if your favorite foods are like whole milk and rare beof stake?

  • @Sanchara You can choose for it but everybody's body is diffrent, Some people already got a lot of proteïn and eggwhites in there body that's naturally made, for example I only need to drink some milk and eat some chicken & rice so it's all up to you and what your feeling in your body

  • @ElJefeNL I think that considering my diet I proably wouldn't need it if I didn't have ADHD - after watching this video on a hunch I did some reasearch into glutamine's realationship to GABA (which pinged my intrest because GABA is one of the nurotransmiters that people with ADHD are usually deficent in)

I'm going to be getting a glutamine supplemet soon.

  • Is this safe for teen aaround 15 years old??

  • you should do more Supplements Review

  • Also their is this place, called a butchers, they sell fresh meat, it's not rocket science, lol. Unrefined foods FTW!

  • This is my personal opinion, I have had massive! Gains, I'm always ripped too, all because I eat the correct foods, and not substitute my meals for supplements.

    It works for me.

I used to train one of my friends, he was a complete hard-gainer, he was building muscle really quick, training 3 times a week (split) and ate healthy food, but one day he decided to try protein supplements, not only did he see no gains from taking it, but he started getting stomach pains and bowel problems, all bec

  • @biffa91 i do agree. used to take a lot of supplements. cost too much money lol. i just now do fish oil and volumaize for recovery

  • Nice Biceps!!

  • i jus got the training programme before the supplement codes breaker offer! WTF!

  • I JUST PURCHASED SOME GLUTAMINE LOL

  • Jeff is the best all round fitness expert on Youtube IMO. I've got great results by following his plans.

  • GREAT ADVICE!!

  • probably the best glutamine review on youtube

  • Good review but to add an important point to the difference between peptide bonded glutamine and LGlutamine. L glutamine if mixed with a protein shake is more slowly absorbed and can degrade into ammonia. peptide bonded glutamine can be added to shakes without worrying about it degrading into ammonia

  • good video, one important tip i would give is to always take it on an empty stomach as it gets destroyed easily by stomach acid

  • Supplements are for lazy people, eat some proper food. Sorry but I totally disagree with supplements, it's not natural and is not as satisfying as if you were to eat healthy, natural foods. For me it's CHEATING! Just my personal opinion. But don't stop taking your supplements, because you will start to loose your muscle, unless you know how to cook the right foods and eat them correctly though out the day.

  • @biffa91 I totally agree with you!

  • @biffa91 Too many people underestimate the advantages of a proper diet!! You just feel SOOOO much healthier when you eat properly!!

  • @biffa91 Lazy? cheating? supplements are exactly that, they supplement an EXISTING healthy diet. they might be processed and package but they still are naturally occurring nutrients. I don't see how going to the shop and buying fruit etc is any different from going to the shop and buying these products, after all if it wasn't for unnatural intervention such as transport/ factories/pest control you wouldn't have all the healthy food choice that you have, so unless your telling me

  • @biffa91 that you grow and prepare ALL your own food and livestock, your healthy food is just as unnatural and lazy as adding the odd supplement.

  • Im loving th supplement reviews and the nerdy parts are the bits up and coming fitness trainers wanna here about

  • Youre the man jeff :)

  • love your videos, i too have a somewhat popular youtube channel! I will be doing a video of my top 5 fitness channel and hope you dont mind if I suggest you as one!

  • @barthelfitness what a great guy jr barthel is.

  • @barthelfitness You ought to have JDCav24, Scooby1961, & moricestreet909 in those top 5 I hope vince del monte aint on those top.

  • @chavamma

don't forget leemhayward, he has one of the best channels

  • @chavamma Scooby as my number 1 ! love him !

  • @chavamma Vince is the maaaaaaan i'll have you know

  • @chavamma and ScottHermanFitness

  • @chavamma vince used to be good, but vince now is just a scammer

  • @nafem See how I put on 15 pounds of lean muscle in 15 days using these secrets....three months later....see how i put on 20 pounds of lean muslce in 21 days using this method....two weeks later...see how i'm full of shit and still the same size I was last year.

Vince is the scam king hahaha

  • @IrishRhavin so true man, vince gone about it the wrong way, early on he wasnt so BS, he was pretty decent, where JDCav is just straight up, NO BS, good vids, body to prove it,

  • @nafem I read his first book and it was just a very long way of saying "EAT MORE"

I've a friend trying to get fit and in shape, this was the first channel i sent him, No Bull here at all :)

  • @chavamma Whats wrong with Vince?

  • @TheIrishMcLovin Vince pushes his programmes constantly and contradicts himself (saying not use supplements then advertising them). Also Vince claims to have put 41 pounds of solid muscle on in 6months which even on steroids would still be an incredible and unlikely achievement.

  • @JM832 nahhh it's not like that he tells you about it and how some do help but he just gives you the main idea and he basically says that it's on you to do and figure out what works for you... buy his book it's the real deal. and not 41 pounds of solid pure muscle that's impossible.. but he's saying mass which means it takes into consideration other things that put on weight including muscle. He did gain that weight but of course he put on a little fat too that's just how it goes...

  • @itsgeraldt Thats how he seems at first, then you get your email spammed "From Vince Delmonte" of all his internet fitness buddies programmes. Some things he says are true and is helpful. He does claim to put on 41 pounds of "Solid Steel muscle". He has some useful content, but Hayward, Scooby, Jeff, Luiimarco and Chris Krueger are the proper real deal. More free, truthful and helpful advice.

  • @JM832 I completely disagree with your statement. Jeff would never under any circumstance spam your email or give it to anyone else. Second, the advice you get from Jeff is the real deal, he is the only one with proper credentials with the professional experience to back it up - check your references before making assumptions. As for free content... 94 videos of challenging workouts is quite a lot to offer if you ask me. Check the testimonials page for proof that AthLean-X is worth it.

  • @jhanrahan05 I'm not talking about Jeff. I'm talking about Vince Delmonte. You have obviously missed out on the earlier part of the conversation. I think Jeff's great!

  • @chavamma Oh, man. I used to listen to Del Monte and later I figured out he was just a scam artist making impossible claims. Thank God I never gave him any money...

  • you need scott herman@chavamma

  • @chavamma see i would actually replace scooby1961 with scott herman, although i like scooby and his videos, i enjoy scotts workouts better. athleanx for me personally though im happy to be team athlean!

  • @chavamma don't forget brandoncartertv, he has great workouts

  • @barthelfitness u da man barthel!

I have to say imo Strength Camp is without question my absolute favorite ..I just seem to relate to just about everything that he have to say and thinks his advice is solid. So check out "yoo Elliot" :) I like JDCav24 A lot as well in fact he used to be my favorite. but he is second now.. but he definitely knows his stuff as well. :)

  • @asrsniperx why would you come to the athlean-x page to promote some next bullshit..fuck outta here

  • I noticed taking glutamine after an intense workout helps prevent sore muscles the next day.

  • another great video! more supplement videos :P
