BRAVO THIS WAS A NICE VIDEO MAN I HAVE THAT CRANE BUT I LIVE IN DETOIT AMD WE ALL KNO (ITS SO COLD IN THE D) LMFAO BUT IN ALL THAT WAS A NICE VIDEO IF I DIDNT HAVE ONE I WUD HAVE BOUGHT ONE I STILL AM BUYING THAT TILT HEAD BEEN IN MY CART ON AMOZON SINCE I HAD MY CANON GL2 GOT A T3I A T2I AND A T1I IM FUCKING CRAZY ANYWHO NICE VID
Beautiful job in reviewing this crane. I just purchased one and watching your video review gave me some needed information. Your use of velcro to attach the TV monitor solves a problem I am having in how to attach a Coby monitor to the crane I also notice that you had the attachment to lock the crane (I see that I need to get that attachment) and your use of the bag to help get the perfect balance is a great idea. Your crane use inserts are also very nice.
I just bought the 4 foot version basic kit but haven't yet decided if I should get the stand from ProAm or use a more traditional tripod. I am hoping that I can use a cheap tripod I have hanging around because it's only a 4 foot jib (that's what OliviaTech on Vimeo shows) but on the other hand the ProAm stand is only $60
If I go for the stand do you think I need the extra rotating bearing mount with it? I've never seen the bearing mount mentioned before so this was new info
@scrow9 I strongly suggest not using a cheap tripod. You get what you pay for in the video industry.
The ProAm stand is ok, but its price is so cheap due to the plastic pieces used for the stand. I wondered why I would need to put in a pin for the stand... that's because the plastic clamp wont be able to hold the load bearing down so it'll slide (crash) down. The pin will stop that.
The bearing mount is required if you wish to mount it to the tripod. Good jib for the cost overall though.
Get a steadycam!?!?? And what a ladder?!!? ANY videographer knows those are two very seperate pieces of equipment with seperate roles. And a steadycam costs a lot more money than a jib. Cool review Han.
@sovathfan And Where could I get the mount? Because I'm planning on using the Ravelli AVTP Professional 75mm Video Camera Tripod. Wonder if that mount would fit.
A lot of people have asked what cameras I use. I used to use the HG10 from canon and now I shoot with an JVC gyhm100u and two canon 7Ds. One with 11-16 Tokina lens and the regular 24-70 F2.8 L lens. Both are awsome. For critical focusing I shoot with the 100F2.0 lens as well. Check out my Review of the High Def Monitor from Pro-Am or my recent projects at ParadigmD.
Can you please tell what camera you used to film this video, what tripod you used and what kind of ball berring head you used I would greatly appreciate it. Excellent video and great job.
I'm fabricating a mount for the jib to my pickup truck. I'm going hand a large display on a rack so that people can see what I'm shooting. I'll post a video of it as soon as its rigged out
@paradigmd i don't see any video of yours showing a review for the pro-am monitor. Anyway I'm wondering if that tilt arm provide smooth tilts with the jvc camera
I maybe wrong but I think you have the pan tilt handle upside down, if you unbolt the handle and then reattach it with the handle up it will be much easier to use.
I have the exact same crane, the biggest problem with this crane is stopping your shot. There is always a slight wobble at the end of most shots. I wish there was a fix for this. (it's pretty annoying).
@redweddedfed since you have one of these does it come in a full kit this camera crane jib and can i order one of their website as i live in the uk and how much could you send me the link if it is in a kit thanks Jay
The head is great but it is my second. In tightening it down, it became faulty and non responsive. I called Bargain Camera and they sent me a new one the next day. It's been fine ever since. It's perfect for cameras that are under 4 pounds. I wish the vertical was more than 20 degrees but it's very smooth.
That's one great review. Thank you! I just bought the 8-foot DVC200 and wanted to ask u a question since you also have a DSLR. I'll be shooting a short film in a month and my concern is that since the 5DM2 has such a shallow DOF, I wont be able to pull focus once I'm using the jib. The reason why I still bought it is because I'm thinking that if go wide, like the Canon 14mm, then my DOF will be much larger, so this jib thing might work.
Question is, how do you do focus when you're using this?
you could get a cable release and an extension cord for the 5d mkII that way you could trigger af, there is no way to focus lenses besides that and the rubber ring around the lens as far as i know.
Cool video I wish bargain camera or pro am would have done this on the web site, I'v been looking at the 750 model and this video helped answer some questions. But I was wondering what is the pro am tripod made of? And does it seem really sturdy? Also whats the biggest camera you put on the motorized pan and tilt head?
You can put up to 6 lbs. on the Motorized Pan Head. The Pro-Am Tripod is made of aluminum and it is very sturdy. I think it can take up to 80lbs. which is what you need when your running the full 15ft. with the accessories. I tried on a Carbon Manfrotto and it's not going to happen
