@cheaniggachea If it's a cold engine, you can cause friction wear on the cylinder walls, piston rings, and pistons. It can cause excess gas to go into the exhaust and ignite in your catalitic converter. Gas ignition in your exhaust melts the ceramic emission filter, which then makes the car run like having potatoes in the tailpipe. Believe it or not, even though the car isn't in gear, the gears still will turn, so if you rev it up, it'll cause gears to wear down.

I hope you all newbies understand, that that is new Audi with revlimiter without gear. Not even A3 wont take over 3000rpm without gear. So that is just tip of a iceberg if you are talking about new S4's sounds.

@snow7777 they revved it up only till like 3k...even when you get a brand new car im sure under normal acceleration you go upto 3k. Yes its bad because its under no load but its not like he put it to the floor then let off, he just was feathering the throttle.

I normally prefer V8s over V6s, but what Audi has done with this V6 with the supercharger is awesome, I love this car, Id take it over a V8 S4 any day.

Sucks to see they take out the bad ass engines.. even though they replace them with equivalent performing ones, it's never the same. Just as the new F10 BMW's will be--same with Merc's AMG range. I'll love my C63 AMG till death. Huge displacement ftw.

Most FSI or TSI engines sound weird but man they can perform. It's not gonna sound as good as the v8 but out with the old and in with the new. I love it, Audi Vw the best company ever. They really did progress a lot over the last 5 years. The 2.0T engine is faster than my 2.7t biturbo. and still gets 35mpg.
A real driving video would be a much better test, this sounds way too stock, the whole lineup seems to have lost a lot of style and personality (to me).

IMHO, the 335i and G37 engines sound better than this. But their performance wise, this car, according to some magazines, is better. Although its not surprising since it has 30 more hp than the bimmer and is a few years newer so it has better technology.
I've driven the B7 S4 and it doesn't feel as sporty to drive as the 335i. I've yet to drive the B8 S4. PS, I'm no fan boy here I love all euro cars
My father has this new S4 and he used to drive the old one (B6 precisely) and the sounds isn't as good as the old one that's true, but we can't say that the sound simply sucks...
I drive often this car and it drives absolutely better than the old one. That's not an M3 but it's getting closer than ever !
The one we've got is an Avant fitted with the S-Tronic and it makes feel the drive less mechanical than the V8 6 speed manual old S4.
But in every other aspects the new one is better !
I thought the s-label meant it was a fast beautiful sportscar.. until the b7 it was, but now? You can't even see the difference from the outside, except at the 4exhausts. And the sound just sucks...
Yep, they replaced the V8 with a V6 and gave it a supercharger, which is now boosting 333HP. Also does 0-60 in about 5 secs, which isn't too bad for an S4.

this isn't its evil sound ... audi engines stop at 4500rpm if you don't drive. So if you just want to do it like a duche then it won't work.
Put it on a street and drive it up to 8000rpm ... this sounds evil ;)
I ve driven the 1.8 TFSI and its a fantastic car with a fantastic sound. I think if i drive the 4.2 S4 i will jizz in my pants while driving ^^

the b5 generation s4 is twin turbocharged 2.7l. then the b6,b7 had the 4.2l V8 then the s4 b8 is the 3.0T(Supercharged)

I drove the car when I brought my 2.0T for servicing. It sounds great, but the V8 sounds better.
