Ed Trice sold the patent for over $3,000,000 to the same group who financed the Bobby Fischer vs. Anatoly Karpov match schedule for 2006/2007. He did not "lose" it at all. I am with the Law Firm that did the patent reassignment in November of 2005.

What evidence do you have of this? Why is it, when one goes to the USPTO web site, the patent is listed as expired?

Ed Trice is not to be trusted. I don't believe for one second that he actually met Fischer. I think he went to Iceland precisely once, and that Fischer refused to meet him that time.

You are half right. Capablanca, even in the 1920's, was not the first. He's the one you hear most about because he was, after all, a world chess champion. But 50 years before him the guy who invented Bird's Opening in chess also wanted to have an 80 square chessboard with the same pieces. That would be the 1870's!!

But where you put the new men on the board changes how good the game is. Even Capablanca's settings look weird. Gothic Chess looks better to me.
