  • Tim Millar Timmy!

  • Now if you would excuse me im gonna go drink some grape juice and eat swiss chalet cause we know all a nigger can afford is kfc

  • @PeanutButterGtr shut up nigger I watched your vid haha of course that jigaboo plays the bass hahaha And I know they are gay because I seen your big ass kfc chicken eating lips drooling when you seen him fuck your porch monkey ass brother in your grandmas house

  • Stop trying to promote your shitty band on other bands videos oh and by the way we came as romans sucks balls

  • @kuntscabanalfuk How would you know they suck? You must've pulled you pants down for them. Fag...

  • I KNOW MORE ABOUT MUSIC THAN EVERYONE BLAH BLAH BLAH...shut up we dont care.

  • @redhavok666 i dont hear that at all... i mean, i just dont understand what youre saying

  • @leetsmithownsu cool beans

  • 1:45 good call on that one guys!

  • i write alot of music and have known basic music theory from a young age scales modes building chords and progressions and i find myself trying to avoid everything i know as much as i spend using it. my shits all in odd time signitures and wierd chords but some of that theory shit its just everywhere. to know or not to know the artists great dilmena

  • Ma non si riesce a capire un cazzo!

  • the theory argument going on is a little silly... Some people find it useful, and others don't need it. But i don't think it harms anyone. I hear a lot of people say that theory takes away the creativity in music... But that's what i hear from people that have no idea what a music theory class really is. Personally, i think it sped up my learning a lot.

  • they are sweet, but they have openly stated that they jacked alot of the songs on fortress from the band sikth.

  • @thricegod1288

    your a retard

  • @ShroomSamich i think you meant "You're a retard". the your you are looking for is the contraction of you and are hence combining the two. You+are = you're, not your

also they said they are huge fans of sikth. fuck off troll.

  • @thricegod1288

your the troll how the hell did they rip off there songs just cause they like them doesn't mean they ripped there songs asshole

  • @ShroomSamich ill link you the inteview where they said alot of their songs they stole the format from sikth in a pm.

  • lot of songs start with a riff, not arif LOOOOOL!!!

  • "4 creative minds" I guess drummers don't creative minds... (nah I knew that already...hehe)

  • @bean14hawks he's saying 2 guitarists, drummer, and bassist. just the instruments.

  • Awesome guys.

but this comments going to appear on Facebook :S

  • Tim said a lot of quetions.

  • That "Arif" pun is hilarious

  • what guitar is that (ibanez)?

  • it looks like a prestige

  • i know it's a prestige, but what model. it looks like s5470, but idk

  • ibanez prestige S5470

  • 99,9% of people who listens to pth plays an instrument, they are gods!!

  • I think bands like this are amazing, because it takes a musician to truly appreciate music like this.

  • @AgowTisro Well said

  • these guys write some of the craziest shit ever

  • Wow, I was always under the impression that these guys were music theory masters lol

  • @Toxin08 me too

  • I think Arif knows most of the theory

  • actually they do know their stuff. but it seems they pretend they know nothing. but they really do know wut they're doing. they use tons of scales and chords and key/signature changes so there's no way they have no idea wut they're doing.

  • You really don't need an expansive knowledge of music to come up with stuff that is not only creative but sounds badass too. PTH are an example of that. Buuuuuutttt just a basic to intermediate knowledge of music can help you alot. Just knowing how chords and scales are constructed can open your musical world wayyyy the fuck up.

  • It's amazing they can come up with music that complex with that little knowledge of theory. Great band

  • @XxxxxJamesxxxX

I think it's mainly because they saw the wide amount of possibility that they could make out of every one of their songs. They're not afraid to do new things when they jam and write, yet and they ain't into "trying to hard" either, and are able to play *along* and "emulate" one another.

They're original lineup apparently has never changed since since they started this band as kids. Which obviously means they know each other's sound very* well by now.

  • "woodily". heh.

  • I'd actually say that fortress was a big step for them, they're progressing. Kezia was all intense and crazy, where fortress had its moments but was more melodic. I'm sayin I can sleep and mosh to fortress which makes it my top by them. Luke and Tim are #1

  • Unless Your Paul Waggoner and Dusty Waring

  • kezia was way better.

  • accent?

  • ya kezia is best metal album from them and fortress is best technical album, so ya i guess

  • yes you can, listen to kezia and its actually better

fortress is very good i mean almost as good as kezia

    but really dude

kezia's album sotry is actully one of the most amazing stories told in music of all time

    its tells alot

    fortress tells alot also

but its doesnt really get to the level of kezia

and no i am not a disgrace

i have been a fan for 4 years

  • I know what you mean, Kezia is like a NON-STOP emotional CD.

  • Yes, and that gets music to a level to art. Which makes it amazing.

  • dude its true

  • that is absolutely crazy

  • "We'll usually start with a riff......not ARIF who's the bassist." Nice play on words.

  • Fortress is the best CD I have ever listened to.

  • its a fact that the KEZIA cd was better

  • Kezia is their best album. No doubt. Both are great, but Kezia was just an over all stronger album.

  • I agree.

  • hahaha everyone thinks the canadian accent is funny

  • My Californian "Surfer" accent is funny. Yes, I'm from L.A.

  • this makes me happy seeing thats exactly ho i like to write music, repeating stuff sucks, especially if thats what people love to hear and you've played it a thousand times, it really helps to not repeat guitar parts =]

  • Protest the hero on crack

  • this is pretty inspriing considering I'm self taught and am taking a beginner theory class and plan to stop my music knowledge after that

knowing that these guys can rip with only every day knowledge of scales and keys makes me less worried about my writing ability

  • bad way to think about it. theory is really easy... dont be intimidated. it will just fuck you if you dont know it

  • Theory will help you incredibly especially if you are writing your own songs, licks, sweeps and so on.

  • wow did you really just say that? You need theory to write songs, it makes it 1000X easier than just guessing random frets and trying to come up with something that sounds cool.

  • You should be able to hear music in your head- then use your instrument of choice to convey it. Theory is just a tool- nothing more. Just my opinion.

  • @BaileyLush what if you can't play the sounds that are going on in your head? ala Necrophagist :)

  • @BaileyLush imo Theory is for people with no musical ear.

  • @Pactoren So all of the classical geniuses had no musical ear?

  • @retards52 ahah winner

  • @Pactoren sounds like an excuse for someone who's to lazy to learn theory, u have an ear to fully understand theory.

  • @japda9 ofcouse you have to learn the basic. but then its really just all about being one with your instrument and let it become a part of you.

  • @BaileyLush i agree with you man, thats true musicianship and expression... plus it always sounds better like that, it doesnt sound like youve heard it before because its go music theory rules applied to you... know what im sayin

  • @BaileyLush indeed it is.but if u know something more it helps u express ur self through music even better.at least i have been really helped from my theory/harmony/fugue studies :)_

  • @BaileyLush Theory is like the language you use to convey the ideas you have and to communicate with other musicians.

  • @crunkSVEN69 Well what about the musician not versed in theory? He/she is still expressing there musical ideas without having knowledge of the theory they employ (obviously they will still be using the mathematical concepts inherent in theory, but I truly don't think a deep understanding of theory is imperative). I hear arguments all the time about how many famous musicians don't have knowledge of theory, and how much better they would be if they did. I just don't agree with this.

  • @BaileyLush I do understand that Theory is not required. And yes, even if you do not know theory, you would still be using it when you do anything musically. And honestly I do agree that a particular musician may not be "better" if they knew theory, I was just saying that it helps. If Luke said to Tim, I want you to harmonize this thing I'm doing, they could sit there and figure it out, but if they could speak theory, they would know how to harmonize a 3 octave Dmaj7flat5 sweep without guessing.

  • @BaileyLush thats the perfect way to put it man. cheers.

  • @BaileyLush Tell that to Bach xP

  • actually what they teach you in begginers theory is not really that useful... what they teach you the major and minor scales and the basic time signatures? if you continue learning theory then the advanced theory could teach you very useful things like modulation, and the beauties of dissonance like the diminished scales, whole tone scales, and dissonant keysignatures, and even atonoal music. Some people don't like that stuff but it comes in useful occasionally, I use it all the time

  • They know more than they let on.

  • im canadian, and ill tell you that the reason they talk like that is sort of like saying "ya know?" at the end of every sentence. ive talked to them when they came to the maritimes and they dont talk like that all the time :P just probably when explaining

  • What's wrong with the way Tim's talking? Like at the end of every sentence ends with a question mark.

  • he's probably nervous. having cameras pointed in his face.

  • haha "a riff not ar-if who's the bassist" good one

  • Orange ESP is tack yas hell but lukes is sexy

  • fuck that, that esp eclispe is sick.

  • MEh its alright just loks tacky as hell. not nice

  • theur voices go up at the end of each sentence

  • silly Canadians, right?

  • their probably just high as shit

  • rodys said that luke doesnt smoke weed.

  • lol Aussies do that too

  • gah now you've mentioned the upward inflection i can notice it so much..it is about the only thing that is wrong with these guys.. though that's not really anything wrong. but stilll

  • AMERICAN nowadays sounds like that too. especially Bitchy teenagers

  • mostly pentatonic scales

  • @suicidemonkeyx not really...

  • what scales do these guys use

  • they mentioned a while ago theyre releasing a tabbook for fortress but i dunno when

nope its from guitarworld i didnt interview them

  • dude they need to publish a guitar tab book on fortress that would be fucking aweesome!!

  • epic video. million thanks for sharing this, man, protest is absolute stellar.
