@PeanutButterGtr shut up nigger I watched your vid haha of course that jigaboo plays the bass hahaha And I know they are gay because I seen your big ass kfc chicken eating lips drooling when you seen him fuck your porch monkey ass brother in your grandmas house
i write alot of music and have known basic music theory from a young age scales modes building chords and progressions and i find myself trying to avoid everything i know as much as i spend using it. my shits all in odd time signitures and wierd chords but some of that theory shit its just everywhere. to know or not to know the artists great dilmena
IF YOU LIKE THESE GUYS CHECK OUT MY BAND BETWEEN THE LIONS ON FACEBOOK AND LIKE US!! JUST DO A SEARCH ON THERE. CANT POST LINK ON THIS. WE WERE JUST ON TOUR WITH WE CAME AS ROMANS! YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED! :)
the theory argument going on is a little silly... Some people find it useful, and others don't need it. But i don't think it harms anyone. I hear a lot of people say that theory takes away the creativity in music... But that's what i hear from people that have no idea what a music theory class really is. Personally, i think it sped up my learning a lot.
@ShroomSamich i think you meant "You're a retard". the your you are looking for is the contraction of you and are hence combining the two. You+are = you're, not your
also they said they are huge fans of sikth. fuck off troll.
actually they do know their stuff. but it seems they pretend they know nothing. but they really do know wut they're doing. they use tons of scales and chords and key/signature changes so there's no way they have no idea wut they're doing.
You really don't need an expansive knowledge of music to come up with stuff that is not only creative but sounds badass too. PTH are an example of that. Buuuuuutttt just a basic to intermediate knowledge of music can help you alot. Just knowing how chords and scales are constructed can open your musical world wayyyy the fuck up.
I think it's mainly because they saw the wide amount of possibility that they could make out of every one of their songs. They're not afraid to do new things when they jam and write, yet and they ain't into "trying to hard" either, and are able to play *along* and "emulate" one another.
They're original lineup apparently has never changed since since they started this band as kids. Which obviously means they know each other's sound very* well by now.
I'd actually say that fortress was a big step for them, they're progressing. Kezia was all intense and crazy, where fortress had its moments but was more melodic. I'm sayin I can sleep and mosh to fortress which makes it my top by them. Luke and Tim are #1
this makes me happy seeing thats exactly ho i like to write music, repeating stuff sucks, especially if thats what people love to hear and you've played it a thousand times, it really helps to not repeat guitar parts =]
wow did you really just say that? You need theory to write songs, it makes it 1000X easier than just guessing random frets and trying to come up with something that sounds cool.
@BaileyLush i agree with you man, thats true musicianship and expression... plus it always sounds better like that, it doesnt sound like youve heard it before because its go music theory rules applied to you... know what im sayin
@BaileyLush indeed it is.but if u know something more it helps u express ur self through music even better.at least i have been really helped from my theory/harmony/fugue studies :)_
@crunkSVEN69 Well what about the musician not versed in theory? He/she is still expressing there musical ideas without having knowledge of the theory they employ (obviously they will still be using the mathematical concepts inherent in theory, but I truly don't think a deep understanding of theory is imperative). I hear arguments all the time about how many famous musicians don't have knowledge of theory, and how much better they would be if they did. I just don't agree with this.
@BaileyLush I do understand that Theory is not required. And yes, even if you do not know theory, you would still be using it when you do anything musically. And honestly I do agree that a particular musician may not be "better" if they knew theory, I was just saying that it helps. If Luke said to Tim, I want you to harmonize this thing I'm doing, they could sit there and figure it out, but if they could speak theory, they would know how to harmonize a 3 octave Dmaj7flat5 sweep without guessing.
actually what they teach you in begginers theory is not really that useful... what they teach you the major and minor scales and the basic time signatures? if you continue learning theory then the advanced theory could teach you very useful things like modulation, and the beauties of dissonance like the diminished scales, whole tone scales, and dissonant keysignatures, and even atonoal music. Some people don't like that stuff but it comes in useful occasionally, I use it all the time
im canadian, and ill tell you that the reason they talk like that is sort of like saying "ya know?" at the end of every sentence. ive talked to them when they came to the maritimes and they dont talk like that all the time :P just probably when explaining
gah now you've mentioned the upward inflection i can notice it so much..it is about the only thing that is wrong with these guys.. though that's not really anything wrong. but stilll

yes you can, listen to kezia and its actually better
fortress is very good i mean almost as good as kezia
but really dude
kezia's album sotry is actully one of the most amazing stories told in music of all time
its tells alot
fortress tells alot also
but its doesnt really get to the level of kezia
and no i am not a disgrace
i have been a fan for 4 years

You should be able to hear music in your head- then use your instrument of choice to convey it. Theory is just a tool- nothing more. Just my opinion.
