That was simply wonderful! i have always been interested in building instruments and love wood working. But i cant play! Great job and it sound awesome! incredible set of videos
I gotta give you props man!! You got true talent. Out of curiosity did you ever sell anyone your work because I'd buy a guitar from you at a real descent price(:
I personally haven't ventured beyond repairing broken guitars yet. But you're certainly giving me a lot of inspiration to move on to the next level with my aspiration.
You've done an amazing job building that guitar... My homemade guitar is nothing compared to that... you're guitar is just right, it has a really great sound. I really like it!
I have seen some negative comments on your other videos... do not take them into consideration because they don't know anything about building guitars and you sure do!
Dude, I've seen your whole serie about how you did your homemade guitar... WOW !!! You rock !!! I dream to make my own guitar too and hope I'll reach 10% of yours... You're skilled man !!! Great job !!! Can't wait your next videos ;)
whatever the sound or the appearance is, what matter's it was made with love and enthusiasm... i watched this kid's video on how he hand-crafted his home made guitar. that was cool... it's like our God shaping and giving life to men... God bless kid! ^_^
Well not only have you become a good luthier - you're also a good player. Kudos my friend - at your age I too had the 'shop bug' - but I was building speaker cabinets and road cases. You went right to the difficult stuff. Any plans to actually launch a line of custom guitars?
Nice job! Did you make the fretboard or you just bought it? I'm building an aluminum-body guitar and I hope it will sound good, even though materials used are not very expensive. The only problem by now is the fretboard, but everything else is quite good.
you say its quite quiet? getting rid of that big ebony bridge and putting a smaller rosewood one on should help that. also how thick was your top? what is the lower bout width? and how wide was your bracing? the guitar looks quite small so a 0.100" top with one finger brace and maybe one tone bar might enable a better tone and volume in the future. :D at least your first was alot better than mine was! have you started #2 yet?
Thank you very much for posting these videos. It makes life so much easier when I'm building when I can watch someone else building. I'm 14 years old and I have built 2 electric guitars so far and I am now in the process of planning a half size octave acoustic.
You keep up the good work and ignore the discouraging comments(Isn't it suprising when people 3 times our age get annoyed because they can't do something as well as we can?). Amazing sound on that guitar by the way.
how would you repair major chips, cracks, and the back part of a guitar? my brothers is in need of serious repair, so he just gave it to me. wood glue? awesome job on the guitar. i wish i knew how to build my own like that, but i would probably do electric guitars. thanks.
Yukon I'm sure it sounds better than the 214. The 214 is Laminate, and I'm sure it's just a matter of time before you've got better than the 314 :P. I'm 19 and just finished my first acoustic guitar that I built and it's a rosewood dread and it sounds way better than my Taylor 214.
In any case, it sounds different that a 214 because of the different body styling. The tone is really shaping up nicely on it but even so comparing it with the 314 seems nearly redundant because both are great, yet very different, depends really on the application. I like them both.
I doubt it, I own a Taylor 314ce which has more balanced and clearer tone compared to this one, this one is very quiet compared, but has more a woody sound than the Taylor. I would rate a Taylor higher than this, but then again I know the guitar well.
the 214 has many many clear differences tho that are the reason for the price difference so it makes sense that the benefits of having a solid peice of wood for the sides and back (i think the back as well) rather than laminate is a huge difference in sound, often people dont realize how much of a difference laminate will sound when compared to quality sides and backs that arent laminate
Did you teach yourself how to build this? I have been looking at lutherie schools lately. Did your father teach you? how did you learn, because this was not accident. It sounds very good! plz respond.
if i ever can build a guitar like yours i would be very happy. i'm trying at this moment but i never worked on wood before and it's very hard. but your video's gave me some new courage :)
That is truly a work of art. you should be VERY proud. someday you should open a guitar making business and put yukon strings on all of the headstocks. =)
how did you make the sides of the guitar? you didn't show it on your other videos
Amazing work! If I had of seen this before your other videos of you making it I would have scoffed. I hope that one day I will be able to do the same. ;) Good job!
I learnt off the internet and just by building stuff out of wood. My dad had to hide his tools when I was a little boy because I would take them and build stuff and then loose them, haha
I was really hoping you would play it for us after watching every single step and waiting for new videos to be uploaded. Once finished the anticipation of hearing it was intense. Sounds beautiful, Thank You for letting us watch you build this!

but honestly, the 314ce is so much more better than my 214ce. X] kinda explains the 700 dollar difference between their pricing.
