  • What a beatiful machine.

  • Great bike ruined by the small tank, otherwise very nice.

  • That bike is so cool, but i dont get why did they put gass tank so small in it!?

  • I was thinking the 48 name could be either a refference to 1948 or a refference to the 48 connected United States, or maybe a little both lol

  • one of the best looking bikes ever

  • I own an FXRS and a VRSCR. Both of those were introduced as machines that IMPROVED PERFORMANCE better engines, suspensions, brakes, etc. Now Harley - Davidson sells Buell and MV Agusta and decides to build overweight slow limited range uncomfortable junk to appeal to people for a high price , sales have plummeted to nothing. What happened people !

  • i love my 48.... fuel capacity sucks but who cares really??? I fill it every day for a grand total of 3 dollars..... haha sexiest bike out there right now bar none

  • These don't make sense... 2.1 gallon tank. You can ride 50 miles before your fuel light comes on?

  • I rode one of these for the first time today. Very cool bike with absolutely NO cornering clearance. Took rubber off my boot on the first curve.

  • i want to buy it for 7990 in America

  • this is probably the second sportster that has really appealed to me (the first being the nightster). i love the styling (finally a fat front tyre), and as for the diminutive tank - this bike screams town-and-lane cruiser, so you'll not likely be far from a petrol station, nor will you be traveling so far as to need one so often. cheers.

  • I own a Softail Custom, but I still drool over Sportsters. Nothing looks like 'em!

  • about 80 miles. terrible idea about putting a small tank on a bike.

  • I'm a Moto Guzzi owner, but love the look of this new Harley... I want one!

  • People who say harley is offering the same bike they did 20 years ago simply don't know bikes. the 48 is a shrewd sportster, refined and gorgeous. Throw a leg over one and enjoy a great bike, nothing more or less.

  • I kinda like it. Need to see how it looks going down the road.

  • If Kawasaki made the 1973 Z1 every year without changing it, would you pay $14,000? Or would you rather have a Concourse 14 for the same price? The motorcycle other than HD have research and development and their product changes and improves every year. I want my technology.

  • H-D's now have throttle-by-wire, 6-speed trannies, EFI, non-linked Brembo ABS, and 6-gallon fuel tanks on many of their models. How is this not advanced?

  • just because a harley still has a classic look doesn't mean it's the same bike it was 40 years ago. Last time i checked you can 't buy a knuckle head any more.

  • Sweet American V-Twin muscle!

  • you pay a shitload of money for only "heritage".

  • I paid a metric F-ton for my H-D. What I got was comfort, style, dependability, packing-room, and the exhaust note that I love on a visceral level. It also came with EFI, a five-gallon tank, a quick-release windscreen, adjustible rear suspension, loads of cargo space, and lot of gleaming chrome. I am a very satisfied customer. I need not go 180 mph on a sportbike to be happy, but I do not discount those who love sportbikes. I love all motorcycles. We are all out in the wind, so why bicker?

  • Harley Davidson.

    An American Leyend, period!

  • its so easy to make a sportster look good like this, I wonder why Harley totally fails to do the same with their other sportsters models....

  • Check out the 883 Iron........one of the best lookin harleys out there in my my eyes....

  • never been a harley fun but this one caught my eye!

  • The forty eight name is actually a reference to the peanut tank which harley first made in 1948. This is the first time they've used it in several years.

  • eh?????? HD use the peanut tank on many models....the nightster, the iron, the 883r......

  • if id ever buy a harley it would prob be this

  • who the heck rides a HARLEY!? LOL! hahahahaha! Unless if you are over 60 years of age. LOL! (PEACE)

  • ....or just dont have enough money to owe one !!!

    Fucker

  • Harleys aren't expensive anymore, dude. They aren't the status symbols they once were. $6500 for a Sportster isn't exactly that hard to acquire.

Even the Ultra Classics cost less than Goldwings these days.

  • .. youre an idiot

  • im 21 and have a 2008 nighster, i get more respect than the kids in town with rice rockets. easy to customize and theyre rice eaters!!!!

  • fool!!!

    jjjjjj ;D

  • I bought mine at the ripe old age of 35. I do not see it as a status symbol. I do not dislike other brands or types of bikes. All motorcycles are beautiful on their own terms. The stereotyping of riders just serves to continueto widen the divide between riders, which is utterly needless.

Ride what you want, and hate none, IMHO.

  • @maikeli7 Well said and could not agree more. Its not what your riding its the fact your out there riding . Enjoy your Fat 48 and be safe out there amongst the cages.

  • a tank that size is rediculous but gives you time to stop and people willtalk to you

  • I don't get it !!!!

  • 8k is a good price for a bike like that

  • i never thought i could ever like a harley, but hot damn, im gonna give one of these a look!

  • it looks very nice, love harley sound, well built. it all comes down to custom interest. for me, manufacturers spend money on tech and design so that's the route ill take too.

  • Get you shit together. The bike is over 10,000

in the U.S and it's a 2.1 gal tank. Smaller than the Nightster

  • Nice looking bike. Harleys do sound good.

  • Probably 180 miles between fill ups max.

  • It's a good mile giver for 6 buck of gas...

  • i dont know about where you guys are from but over here in the states harley dealers have great customer service. and as for the gas tank it may seem small but you can get around 200 miles out of it in my experience

  • Did he say a 12.5 litre fuel tank? What sort of tank range does that get you? About 50 miles ?

  • Well my 50cc scooter have 8,5 :S

  • It's 3.3 gallons, and this is no small engine, it's a 1200cc air cooled Evo engine, which is not exactly the most fuel efficicient engine out there.

With the way people ride sportsters (aggressively, cause, you know, SPORTster), it'll get about 120 miles per tank if you cut it close.

Realistically, you'll fill up every 90 miles. Not exactly a touring machine...

  • What u want to do with the bike...try to cross the state? I think 90-120 miles is a good number just to ride around...

  • Cross that state? I can't even cross Phoenix with a 90 mile range. My commute is about 40 miles each way. I don't want to have to stop for gas every single day on my way to work, that's just lame.

  • a 12.5 fuel tank is large that is more like a 2. 5 ltr tank and will do about 80mls to a tank

  • @1340michael 6 gallons is about 300 miles...that is street glide hd ..48 hd roughly

8 liters that is 2 gallons 80-90 miles my approx every full tank..

  • @s1914 indeed. range is roundabout 300 kilometers, which means a real pain in the a**.

  • And forget about taking a real road trip on one. You've gotta stop at every local dive to fuel up.

  • I'm sorry to say but Harleys will give you nothing but a headache in the end. I've owned 2 of them and well, problems. My friends have problems with theirs. Honestly, I'll never ride a harley again. Yes they sound good, but for the money you pay and the crappy customer service and high prices....go Italian or Japanese.

  • u r right and i am totallllllllly agreeeeeeee with u

  • 10K is a good price for a bike like that. With that money what can u buy? a suzuki 600?

  • In 4 years and 24,000 miles, my Road King has never failed me. I've loved my bike and the MoCo's service. Sorry you had such trouble, but my experience is quite in contrast to yours and your friends'. I recommend H-D's because I have had nothing but a positive experience on mine (I've now owned 2).

  • I would love to have this bike in my stable if I had the dough for a second bike - and if the wife wouldn't have a conniption fit!

It's got that old, bobber style, which is my all-time favorite.

Some like more stylized cruisers, and some like a bike that is a little rougher-looking. Kind of like shoes: you have your fancy and comfortable Rockports, and then the stomp-your-face look of Dr. Marten's. I'm more of a Doc fan!

  • Nice lookin' scoot.

  • Yamaha midnight star, cheaper, better

  • From what I've seen, the Midnight star is more classically styled and refined than the 48, which is a bobber-styled bike. Plus, the price for a 1300 is nearly identical to the 48. All in all, I think it is a style choice more than anything.

But that's just my humble opinion.

  • u r right i agreeee with u

  • Honda Shadow Phantom looks pretty sharp also.

  • The only thing is it isn't a Harley. I know other bikes may be better, heck I've owned them. But a Harley is a Harley and there aint no other.

  • Gotta say, I agree with you, RR289! But in the case of those for whom Harley holds no allure, no amount of discussion will help. Kind of like that old expression: "Those who don't ride (X-brand), don't know."

Being an RK rider, I definitely know!

  • I agree, I myself would not buy a cruiser of any sort other than a HD but I also get that other companies make great bikes also.

  • u r right

  • neveeeeer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
