This sure takes me back... I was nine when this came out. Used to hear this on WOL radio in Washington DC, 1970. In those days I couldn't wait to get back home from school to listen to my little transistor radio. Sigh. Happy birthday Stevie! May 13's his birthday. He's 61 yrs old, I'm 50.
@IrisMG I am 50 too. I can remember listening to his music when I was 9 too. In London. He sure is an icon and his music is so soulful. One of the greats. I listened on a transistor radio too in my bedroom. Those were the days a? The world seemed a better place.
I never understood why this wasn't a bigger hit for Stevie. Certainly one of his best efforts in a career filled with great songs. The two songs he released before this and the two after all went into the Top Ten, but this one peaked at number 26. Just a wonderful performance from one of the most genuinely talented musicians of his era.
Back in the day when there was Junior High School, NOT middle school!!! We were not in the middle of anything back then... Know what I'm saying grown folks! LOL real Loud - Yea!!! Classic Stevie Wonder by far!!
My mama and my grandma played this til the record broke, and then went out and bought new records. This is priceless. It's a gift that always puts a smile on my face and lifts my spirit. Thanks, Johnnie.
I remember listening to this song with me mom in her car when I was little. we would be driving for 5 or 6 hours and she would put her stevie wonder tape in. this song has always meant a lot to me. it has a special place in my heart. another classic from stevie. thanks for posting!
You were swindled BigernnJax, we used to get 5 for 50p in The Fishmongers Arms in Wood Green Still I am talking about 35 yeras ago!!!!!!!!! Pax to all jukebox fans from Ian "soulboy" Smith.Xxx.

why do people now a days like peace signs? that age has nothing to do with 2000s im sure it was better back then when we went to school riding on dinosaurs.
@CaitrionaBolger you probably love him because you're parents love him and played him while you were growing up. Most people have never heard him or haven't heard his really good stuff.
@CFIsMyGod Such a shame isnt it? This wonderful stuff kept us calm and mellow back n the day. The meaningful words and beautiful melodies helped us problem solve and cope with everyday conflict. Much of the music nowadays stimulates anger in many who listen. We must go back to the old ways in an effort to save our ppl.
@CFIsMyGod yeah, definitely. My parents influenced my music taste hugely. I'm so glad I didn't grow up to Lady Gaga :P Yeah, a few people my age know him, but they only know stuff like "I Just Called To Say I Love You" and that. I love most types of music though, like Tom Waits and Pink Floyd, among others. Went to see Stevie live a few weeks ago actually, it was incredible. He just has this amazing atmosphere about him, and ooowh, he's so inspriring =) one of the best moments of my life..
@CaitrionaBolger Reading this might have made my day keep on keeping on with the great music taste friend and embrace the fact you dont follow artists by popularity
@malkovich85 Heh, awh..:) But yehh! Music that has a soul! Not some mindless crap that is just out there to make em famous and get em rich.. Belieeeverrs, keep on belieeevin' =)
@CaitrionaBolger i'm 23 and Stevie Wonder is my all time favorite artist bar none. Just keep playing him no matter how much people your age may complain.
this is an awesome song! songs like this are 1 of a kind........this song was done in 1970 and today it still moves you.....this is MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stevie Wonder's best "unknown" record, just as "One More Heartache" is for Marvin Gaye and "Still Water (Love)" is for the Four Tops. Great song...keep on dreamin'!
I still see Brother Wilbert standing guard at the Wurlitzer in Vermell's ensuring that this song would play unencumbered. (Three songs for a buck!) Thanks for the memories

Ray Charles influenced him during this period. I love the way his tunes were painted with brush strokes of soul, pop and country.
