haha i love the story inconsistencies in the bureau sketches! theyre so funny and over dramatic. i cant help but feel its strange how they would all "walk" for Guy, yet in doing so they just leave him xD
Oh my God - some people might say you couldn't stretch this to half an hour - but I completely disagree! I'd kill to see Steve Coogan do that character again.
If you are attempting to parody something that is already a hair's breadth from self-parody e.g. soaps - you have to get it absolutely right or else it just won't work. This is just perfect isn't it? The skill, intelligence and sheer artistry that has gone into this little piece of perfection is just breathtaking.
Remember when an unbelievable amount of effort was put into British comedy shows? We'll never see the likes of this again - it was so layered and intelligent and actually had something to say as well as being extremely funny.
I love the Margate line in Spanish too. But my favourite Hennety line will always be "Go on then walk! The lot of you, walk! I've got people queuing up to work inside this Bureau de Change!"
To this day I'd still love to know what Maria said to Hennety. Jeez, I'm crying at this!
when italy first made their version of "big brother" a few years ago, they had a TV show analysing it which was just like the show analysing "the bureau"!
possibly TDTs crowning moment.. classic from start to finish. the constant referral to "the bureau de change" and the whole "guy" incident make it stand out..
