I must point out that 1958 flying V guitar (the only year they made them prior to 1968). If you had that guitar today, it's worth upwards of $500,000.00
If you watch video The Kinks Milk Cow Blues 1966 on here you will see how absolutely fan-bloody-tastic The Kinks were. Dave Davies voice and guitar are frigging raw & amazing and pete's bass playing is the dogs licky bits...God save The Kinks :oD
@OropherThranduil chill out, i didn't say anything about anybody being better then somebody, I was JUST SAYING. It's not like I don't study up on the fucking rock scene
One of the best cover tunes of all time. Aerosmith recorded it years later just as the KinKs arranged it. Dave was one of the few bending notes back in the mid 60's and the hair on my arms still stand up each time I hear Milk Cow Blues. Also love the way Ray and Dave traded vocals and I'm looking forward to that type of collaboration in the near future. Damn shame about Pete though. He was perfect with Dave in creating that wall of sound.
Did you read the credits at the end, naming all the bands that were on that night...The Kinks, The Hollies, Manfred Mann, Marianne Faithful, Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Who.
@bigsoundp I'm old enough to remember Shindig, (63 yrs old!) They always had a great line-up, though most of the Brit bands were on tape from somewhere else. Hullabaloo, (on NBC) had a slight edge because it was in COLOR!!, and most of the acts were live from the venue. Also, they had real hot disco dancers! (Check out Lada Edmund Jr.)
Sounds great! But the most fantastic version I`ve ever heard is on Dave`s CD "Live at the Rock Bottom Line" NYC. Unbelievable good! As well as "I need you". Best album ever!
It is SO nuts to think that I am actually a year older than Dave was in this clip! I mean, that is making me feel ancient and I am only 19! It's amazing that those boys managed to accomplish so much when they were still so young.
Milk Cow Blues Boogie was recorded in the 1930's by a guy named Kokomo Arnold. I believe it was penned by Sleepy John Estes, a U.S. blues guitarist. Somebody else can jump in and correct this if I'm wrong.
This was a nice gem. I'm surprised that it wasn't included in the Kinks' "Shindig" video that was released in the early 1990s. It's an excellent live performance. I don't know why Ray was singing into a dead microphone, though. Dave's the lead, and the song is killer!!!
one of the best r'n'b covers ever, really love this song, it's 3' 44'' in the original recordings, it's a nasty groove rocker, love the dancing girls this one should be remade with the original sound recordings and a full lenght set of dancing beauties, that dress looks good going down, right!

The only thing I would like to say is that Dave's voice was made for that kind of music. God, he sounds amazing.

Great groundwork for so many versions of Milk Cow Blues, but the best is the "new dance" version Aerosmith throws down.

There are lots of versions of "Milk Cow Blues" out there, but the KinKs version remains the gold standard.
And for the guy who asked for Spanish:
Existen varias versiones de ésta canción, pero la versión de los KinKs supera a todos.
