there are 2 reasons why I like the 1988 version of this better: 1. Tim curry as Rooster (which is the best reason) and 2. in the 1988 version Miss Hannigan doesn't want to hurt Annie, she even tries to stop Rooster when he tries to kill her, and she ends up repenting and shows up in the final scenes of the movie, which shows that she isn't as completly evil as Cathy Bates' character is.

@LilliEvieMamma This isn't based on the 1982. In fact BOTH this movie and the 1982 movie were based on the broadway musical "Annie". This version follows the original broadway show much closer then the 1982 film did.
