  • No more videos on this?

  • i enjoy the way you simplify things man its just funny, i would love to covert this into usb midi controller.

  • Tune man, lovin that old school vaccum cleaner drone you have sampled there...keep up the good work (Y)

  • i would love to do a set on that haha

  • i thought he was gonna try to vacume the freakin' cat. . .

  • i'll buy it for 40$

  • bahh cleaning... thats a womans job

  • is that bobby sox? he"s really used to loud sounds? :p

  • Looks like the mixer's been under a few repair jobs. I'm pretty surprised to see stripboard underneath there!

You're going to have a hell of a job on your hands finding some original parts like knob caps. Might even need to mold new ones.

  • Sick sucky vacuum thing. Really cool old setup.

  • I Have The Same Cat!!! ^^

  • i like your vacuum cleaner :D

  • you are better off with a big paint brush ;)

  • haha great vid J

it's funny how dogs get all frighted when it comes vacuums...but cats? nah...yours is like...

    ''Hmmm...whatcha doin ?, Need help ?''

    meow...

  • first 40 seconds:

    suckky suc suk suk

  • nice vid J!

i couldnt imagine cracking open a DJM800 in 40 years time and examining its entrails in nostalgic awe at its retro-ness! haha

  • Cat thinks * What the hell is he talking about ?* XD Loll

  • cat craws on top of dj console

  • on that thing Beethoven learned how to beatmatch 2 symphony orchestras into each other.

  • great vid

  • Id take the whole thing apart, rebuild the cabinet and clean all the individual components, maybe give them new wiring. Bit of alcohol on a soft cloth/brush will get it nice and clean. :)

  • i had one of those about 3 years ago when i was learning to DJ

  • I am assuming that this was your original dj set

  • I do like the fact that the circuit bords are mounted vertically. if someone were to spill some water (or beer) it would just drop down to the bottom were the water can easily be collected.

  • that cat is deaf from ur music. it doesnt even react to the noise of the vaccum cleaner. lol

  • Wow... thats a realy old vacum cleaner.

  • You probably need new slipmats for the turntables. The little so called "joystick" looks funny especially compared to video game controllers.

  • Good luck man! I hope you can make it work. Maybe you should use it in one of your gigs on live streaming someday, lol.

  • looks like a fun project

  • Very interesting, i'm curious to see the final result.

You have a hard work to do !!

    Good luck !

  • Waooh really nice, HUGE thingy! :D I like it!

  • Now that's some dj porn right there!

  • sweet stuff J. i had a set of SIMMS WATTS consol decks when i started. bought them for £15 :s

  • Wow! Very interesting... where'd you pick that up?

    Good luck with it =D

  • That Cat is funny

  • wow , analog . no microchip.

  • awesome :D

  • Wow haven't seen one of those since the early days when playing in bands at certain clubs. That would be great to hear again.

  • you should use some brushes in addition with your cleaner Mr Ellaskins

  • great, looking forward to the other parts!

  • Wish I had something like that in my shed.....actually, I wish I had a shed :0(

  • THAT HOOVER IS OLDER THAN THAT DJ DECK

  • Awesome project! Looking forward to seeing more :)

  • Looking good.

    Things to chack inside are:

The potentiometers (nobs and faders) if they fell grindy they may be warn out.

The capacitors if they are leaking or burst they will need replacing.

The power suppy will have a transformer on it you can test this with a standard multimeter (set the multimeter to resistance and conect it to both the input terminals you should get some resistance if there is non then you may need to replace the transformer.

I have run out of space on this coment but th

  • can't wait to see it work

  • This is the same way Allen & Heath build their mixers, with each channel on a separate PCB, so you can easily swap the boards if there's a fault.

I'm surprised to see that blue PCB in the middle though, looks like a bit of an afterthough!

I notice it says Elektor on it as well, which is an electronics magazine - and they're still going!

The Matamp site has a gallery, with a submit option - you could upload a pic of the beastie.

They may even have schematics filed away somewhere...

  • i believe they call it a hoover, but i aint sure, best ask the wife

  • Wow ! very cool mechanics

    DJ Sunny del Maro

  • Is that your old console?

  • no, this is an old console he got from one of the first mobile road shows in his area and may very well be in all of the UK. Check back on he last vid and you get to see the guy's interview.

    - DJ CD

  • J-

Wishing you all the best on getting the old deck working. I had an old pair of realistic tape players I tried to get working. Got it to power on... but never could get the sound to work. All the Best!!

    -DJ CD

  • ill be amazed if it still works

  • WOW! That thing has to be old. The dust is six feet thick. Im sure you will get it done J.

    DJ Brian

  • retro :O
