No offence, but I really don't understand why anyone would learn his children to kill instead of leaning them to treat every living being with respect.
@NowIAmAwake I don't understand why you never "learned" proper English. And I believe he can teach his son how to kill and to treat every living being with respect at the same time. There is nothing wrong with hunting animals for eating. God put these animals on the earth for a reason, we eat meat, plain and simple.
First of all, Imsoaoffended, you don't know jack about the hunting laws of Texas. In fact, when you opened your mouth I bet you didn't even know what state we were talking about- making it impossible to know what is legal and what isn't. Secondly, that isn't a fawn, so you're dead wrong on every level.
It was not a fenced area, it was open hill county near Bandera, TX. Axis are all over the place out there, having escaped many generations ago after being imported.
@UNCLEDUSTY1 there is a type of deer that is spotted even as an adult, that type of deer is also much smaller. its usualy found in asia. so it was a doe. just a different type
@ImSoOffended your a faggot i hunt in new york too, shot more deer then you ever seen and i love killing little fawns nice and yummy also perfectly legal (notice the check box on your dmp tag that says fawn)
I was going to say I hope you, your son and your family and friends like venison, because your son bagged plenty of it. But I already read that you ate both deer.
Uhm, if you ever DO have something like that happen again and you don't know what to do with all the meat, send me a PM will ya?
Murphys' Law. Stuff happens. Seems a lot of people are overlooking the honesty. This guy could have blown it big time easy. Instead he took the high road and posted the TRUTH about this hunt. It's a lesson in honesty. You Anti-hunting hypocrites could learn a thing or two from this.
oh God fucking forbid a guy wants to take his son hunting, This will make PETA have a FIT,And for WHAT?! PETA is WAY more cruel to animals than hunters, they are the biggest hypocrites in the world. Now as for me, I love animals like dogs, cats and horses. But theres nothing wrong with eating meat and deer hunting.
@21oPlato Right you are. We had a talk about that. To be honest, any hunter that promises you there is nothing directly behind a target is an idiot or a liar..... or he has x-ray vision. It is impossible to know everything in your shot path, but your point about safety is a good one.
@Totokorquil Well, you're the expert on gay, so I won't argue with you there. But fake? I ate both of those animals. If they were fakes, they were damn impressive fakes. I have the head of the buck on my wall. Explain again why they are fakes?
@thecavanaughs i think he meant fake as in there were 2 different shots and was staged...i think that's really impressive and the odds of that happening are very slim but anything is possible..good hunting
@cwalton71420 is right, if people didnt hunt they would all die of disease and starvation you should be thanking us, and @alienboy00 i speak for most all hunting enthusiasts, we dont "destroy" nature we want to preserve it as much as you pain in the ass vegan retards, and this was a boys first hunt you miserable asshole so leave them be,,, im proud of you liam, great job on your first hunt that was an incredible shot! happy hunting! :)
deer population gets to big then they get a disease called CWD that spreads quickly since there are more within a square mile, too many deer to many predators wich means more animals needing to be killed because thats what people do so basically we save deers lives by hunting them and keepin them in check sssssssoooooooooooooooooooooooo kiss our ass
For ALLLL of you anti hunting vegan ass faggots. here's some info you all:
1. Hunting helps maintain a steady population of ANY ANIMAL.
2. If your ancestors didn't hunt for valuable protein which comes from animals, chances are you'd either A: be extremely emaciated like a starving ethiopian child, or B: you'd be long dead.
3. not all people who shoot animals just shoot them for the trophy. many people actually do eat the meat.
@cwalton71420 just to play devils advocate... b/c ur ancestors did it, doesnt mean its appropriate in the 21st century. anyways, i agree with what u said but its the ones who are only interested in a trophy that makes me sick. hunting is as natural as breathing but those sportsman hunters only do it b/c they like to kill shit! and thats crazy
@youngvito262 Kind of right, but you're missing a major point. In most states deer do not have an effective natural predator. We don't want a mountain lion population big enough to control the deer population, that would be a total disaster. So, we have two choices, cull the deer population each year, or accept higher traffic fatalities and widespread disease and famine in the deer population. The ethical and logical choice is to cull the population.
Gee alienboy, you seem really upset. You shouldn't allow yourself to get worked up like that. Have you considered taking up a hobby to help you relax? I suggest hunting. ;) But really, dude- "shoot yourself"? Seriously? Man you don't know me. I am a cancer doctor and a father of four. I eat everything that I hunt. Not sure why you think I'm such a bad guy, but you need to relax. Also, for the record- unless you are a vegan who NEVER wear leather, you are a total hypocrite. Either way- RELAX.
@thecavanaughs what have all these animals you have hunted ever done to you? I eat meat, i were leather but I don't ever kill for fun! If it is unneccesary to kill deer, don't do it
@alienboy00 realize that you're talking to a 10 year old when you say to shoot yourself. why would you watch a video that clearly says hunting in the title just to talk shit. Get a life
Congratulations! I just bought an AR-15 6.8 SPC for my kids to use and I was a bit skeptical on how they would perform on deer but not after seeing this. Congrats and don't listen to the tree huggers.
Your kid will have the most interesting deer hunting story for all his life !
That freaking doe got whacked to thats so funny !
I once shot two Black bears in Alaska with one round but I did deliberate at a bait station when I seen the two bears going to line up for a double kill shot .
My 9.3x62 Mauser smoked both those bears dead with one 286 Grains Barns X Bullet .
@finn123sk8 Are you a strict vegan who also wears no leather or animal products of any kind? If you do not consume any animal products in any form, then you practice what you preach and I respect your beliefs- although I do not agree with them. However, if you eat meat, fish, or chicken, or if you wear leather made from cowhide, then you are a hypocrite and a complete fool. I have never killed an animal that I did not eat.
it's pretty shitty when your teaching your son that it's not good to shoot a doe but only bucks. I believe in QDM but damn thats no way to teach a kid the ethics of hutning.
@chornikcatfish- Harvesting males in a non-monogomous species has far less impact than harvesting females. Therefore, the land owner wanted us to take a male. His land- his decision. That's the end of the discussion. I was upset that he had hit the doe only because we had permission to take a buck. More importantly, he was aiming at the buck and I do expect him to hit the animal at which he aimed. He is not permitted to take wild shots.
@harleyanna2 That's awesome. My son and I are not hard-core hunters. I have taken an Elk at over 300 yards- but that's about as far out as I can take a good shot. I have friends who are in to the long-distance thing, but honestly, I have never managed to get to that skill level.
@thecavanaughs depending on range of the shot it can go on threw if it misses bone
just becuse its hollow point does not mean its gonna stop
thats why police and fbi and such use bilistic bullets when in a crowed its gonna shatter the bullet instead of mushrooming it and that will stop the penetration.
@thecavanaughs Those hollow points will still go through a deer pretty easily, especially on soft tissue where a bone or shoulder blade isn't hit. I've got to say, your son's a dead eye. Good work raising him =]
@BBDMathewsz7 Thanks- he was very proud. He said "Daddy- haven't you ever shot two deer with one shot?" And I said "No son, most of us haven't." He is a cool kid, and usually very humble- so it was fun to let him brag about it for a while.
@thecavanaughs HAHAHA nice man...that kid will have that story for life..Myself and every Texas hunter I know wishes they could say the same thing for themselves I would brag that one to the grave haha
the same thing happened to one of my mates down here in australia, he was hunting in south australia and shot at a nice chital (axis) stag, and a spiker ran into the bullet path, hitting the spikie far into the side of its head and still managed to pass through its head and kill the stag so i believe it happened to you
I usually hunt alone and have had opportunities to have a try and shoot 2 deer at the same time but have not deliberately tried in case of wounding the second and if it just happened I think I would be a little reluctant to carry them both out whole. Good shooting all the same not bad at all .
@hwh12- "they're" decoys not "their" decoys, and no- they are not. Those are axis deer- a 200 lbs buck and young female. The buck was shot through and through both lungs and the bullet then went through one lung of the doe and lodged into her heart. The round was a 6.8 SPC Sierra Hunter and did not appear to expand well- hence the through and through wound. I have a whole series of pictures on a truck and being cleaned and dressed- so I'm pretty sure they aren't decoys.
@airsoftplayer55- that's a good point. The axis deer is less regulated in many states (including Texas) so tags were not an issue. However, with white tail that would be a real problem.
@Kindergarten666- Very good point. I have some great pictures of the proud young hunter, but forgot to include a shot of him in the brief video footage. Next time!

As interesting as that happenstance is, this is a good time to remind the boy of the importance of knowing what lies behind the target.
It's happenstance that the doe got hit, but what if that was an endangered animal or a person?
I believe you keep safety in mind like you should.
This is merely my take on the situation, a point worth mentioning. When we shoot, we should ideally only kill that which we fully intend to kill.
Congrats to the boy on an otherwise clean kill.

Hollow points are designed to expand on impact, and cause as much shock and trauma as possible, while limiting penetration.
A hollow point is actually the worst choice for engaging armored targets.
