  • I bet that piano bench ha a nice glaze on it.

  • She's almost too beautiful for this world.

  • @FuckYourGodYourLord Agreed. If it weren't for her fans here on Earth, she would have probably relocated long ago to somewhere else in the universe.

  • to many thanks for this video!!! toooo maaanyyy

  • Did anyone else notice the unusual hand position when she plays the intro? It reminds me of a good girl holding her hands atop her lap - visible for all to see. It's as if she is communicating, see, I'm a good girl. Now hear me sing.

  • @ 1:59 She goes a little cross eyed ... it's awesome and somehow sexy

  • yup...pure sex! it IS so freakin rad that they allowed songs with this kinda context on late night tv back then...we can't really say the same for now!

yup, well said important woman, she DOES define female sex appeal. word. still...even now. awesome tori...i hope u keep straddling piano benches for years to come!

  • I think she's saying masterbation is not a sin, and other things as well. "Greeting the monster in our Easter dresses"

  • She's controlling the entire universe for 4 minutes, and the best part is, she knows it.

  • @ClandestineEpiphany - Well stated.

  • Well, if Tori didn't explicitly explain her songs, no one would know what the hell she's singing about!

  • singing praise sing away he's in my pumpkin pj's lay your book on my chest feel the word, feel the word, feel the word. feel the word, feel the word, feel that, well I could have, I should have, I could have flown away

  • She was so much more daring on the piano in her youth. She isn't risky anymore in the passages she plays.

  • it is SO HOT when she licks her lip at 0:42!

  • @skatapoopy everything she does is hot. She defines female sex appeal.

  • tori, you are the best..people today could learn a thing from you..

  • A song about masturbation in church? Or being molested in church?

  • You guys do know that she's talking about shoving an icicle up her hoo-ha while her parents are downstairs and while she's reading the bible, right?

Not strange content for a song at all...

  • @CupidRival Hmmm, no. In the song she asks the icicle to "keep watch" for her. My interpretation of that is she has as long as it takes for the icicle to melt to get off.

  • @CupidRival not literally an icicle. her hand, which is as cold as ice, representing the frozen parts of her. while her sexuality is warm and her private core, which she leans on for support in a place (her religious household, family) where she feels alone and isolated.

  • It's so freaking awesome that she plays a song about female masturbation on Leno :D

  • yea its about more than that....

  • @klimpensonice and she looks right into the camera as she sings the best lines too

  • @klimpensonice the first was Cyndi Lauper with "She Bop" great song......

  • @klimpensonice THAT'S what Icicle's about? I can't believe I didn't know that!

  • @skatapoopy haha that's probably why they let her play it - because they didn't know. Until you really examine the lyrics, it just sounds like she's singing about icicles and snow.

  • @kevvie100 I also didn't know for a long time Cornflake Girl is about female castration. I always thought it was about a girl who joined a clique and they decided to kill her!

  • @skatapoopy Same here haha. I remember there was once this TV show with Tori on, and they told people the song was about that, and everyone was like "WTF??" and "How does that even work?"

  • @klimpensonice so true!!

  • @klimpensonice She's a bad ass.

  • Beautiful performance!

  • She got me with her tongue on her lips at 0:42

  • I only know this from CD and my native language isn't English, so i'd like to know if this is a dialect how she sings "lay" here? Or is it just for the performance?

  • Thats a Dialect called Tori amos haha, she pronounces things weird sometimes

  • @MinakoMadison all singers pronounce things weird!

  • 2:25 watch her slowly go cross-eyed

  • dboles27 - She's like a siamese cat who gets cross-eyed when you stroke the fur. The music strokes Tori's mind, I do believe. It sure sends me into cross-eyed mode from time to time.

  • most definitely. judging from the thumbs downs, apparently people think i was insulting her. as if noticing how she physically responds to the music she's making is somehow a bad thing.

  • Tori's all-time best American television performance, by far... I wonder how many people that saw this way back then are still fans today...

  • Avril20th - I caught a short clip of her way back and was instantly hooked. There's a lot of listeners who'd tell you the same thing. She's a truly great artist in my opinion.

  • wow I never saw this performance before!!

    :O

amazingness as was anything of Tori's in early/mid 90s

  • she is perfect!!!!

    my favorite song! <3 TORY!

  • She gives the most defiant look when she says the good book is missing a few pages, thats a girl

  • I think that she is not so defiant. I think she is being more intellectual than the average 'defiant' atheist. I believe, based on reading and seeing many of her interviews, she is making a reference to the canonization of the scriptures and the politics involved in that process. She's mentioned her admiration of Jesus many times. Her problem is with the 'church'. Being a sympathetic PK, "Preacher's Kid", I can relate.

  • I agree

  • Put foot in mouth, I meant it as a good thing, thats why she's the artist and make lame comments on youtube

  • Whatever the details of her defiance, she is being defiant. Please don't feel bad about yourself VenusMasque. I think the same thing when I see her singing that line. It doesn't mean I am stupid and don't understand what she means, and I don't know why anyone should assume you don't either. Sometimes I'm baffled by how mean and judgemental people can be.

  • I can't BELIEVE nobody flinched while she was singing about masterbation vs the concept of GOD on national television! luv luv LUV you Tori!

  • Incredible.

  • I actually think this lip color is divine.

  • she is pure beauty

  • Icicle definitely gives an impressionistic effect, as Tori described the whole of Under The Pink. Ugh why did have to be 5 in 1994. If I could go back in time, the first thing I'd do is tell my mom to take me to every Tori Amos concert.

  • yeah i know how you feel(i was born in 1989 too) actually one of the reasons i like tori is she reminds me of my childhood, i know i was subcontiously listening to tori when i was younger. her music wouldn't seem so familiar otherwise. the first time i heard Winter as a young teen it was like a blast from the past. her music makes me feel warm and safe. her music is like home to me.

  • Haha.. Same here.. I was born in 1991... I had no idea who Tori was until I became a fan but I vaguely remember it from when I was little.. I remember hearing Crucify and being suprised I know the words lol

  • great hair-i dissagree toriamos2008 tori can pull off any lipshade-but this doll stuff however........love you tori

  • eh tori thats not ur lipshade =P anyways favourite song!

  • The music matters so much more, I didn't even notice. And you have to remember that this is 14 years ago and we just wore different clothes and makeup back then! Especially Tori - heck, when i saw her in 1994 she had on a BATHING SUIT and bell bottoms :) It was awesome!

  • My fave piece from that album... wooh :)

  • as far as all these "shes not as good as she used to be" comments,i dont care if shes not quite as edgy anymore.Shes got her hubby, kiddy and is obviously a lot happier.Man,a 1000 icicles wouldve killed her.I dont grudge her a little middle aged paunch hahahaha i fucking love tori :-)

  • I'm only 19, and I have to say she is exceedingly more edgy than anything my generation is putting out

  • THANK YOU, I thought I was the only one that felt this way...when I saw your comment I had to say something...Tnx

"If I ever saw somone trying to murder a piano I'd..."

    -Tori Amos

  • "I think the good book is missing some pages"

  • Torithehottestpianowomanever. Hail Tori!!

  • haunting.

    Amazing

  • the lyrics to this song, tori amos, piano..... werid seeing this song on leno

  • It's about pleasing oneself to put it politely.

  • No one can embellish a song with a piano like her

  • beautifull song!

  • i miss the great piano melodies tori used to make, with all the classical features...

  • Me too!!! I am glad to see I am not the only one. I have liked only 2 songs from Scarlet's Walk, Bee Keeper and Doll Posse. These last 3 efforts are disappointing to me.

  • I sadly have to agree. Her first two albums were incredible, as far as melody was concerned.

  • I disagree incredibly. As a musician, I find her complex melodies to be very entrancing and mind-opening, but I can see how some people can only find pleasing what their cognitive ability will allow.

  • Hey now -- no need to be a douche-bag.

Cognitive ability and so-called taste aren't directly correlated, and if you decide to demand evidence (even though the notion seems pretty commonsense), I WILL dredge it up.

What a horribly pretentious comment. I'm seriously wrinkling my nose in disgust.

  • she is so good and unique.

  • I can't believe they let this song on tv without censoring!

  • I know, but she makes her words so sensually explicit. I love it! Ty for freedom of speech!

  • fantastic

  • This was my first exposure to Tori. Oh, the memories!

  • whoa, leno looks like such a baby here.

  • thank you for this!
