I read through their Facebook events and clearly very little thought was put into this. This movement is a potential disaster waiting to happen. Yes, they mentioned some of the challenges but no one has a plan. They don't mention any solutions of their own. I'm glad the average citizen is waking up but do something constructive. Don't just protest with no goals in mind.

According to SARS about 4-5% of the population pays for 80% of all government tax incomes. That is possibly the most "progressive" of all income tax systems in any democracy. The poor pay between 0% and 14% in VAT depending on what basket of goods they buy.

It also has very restrictive gun laws, laws that criminals simply ignore and effectively disarm the law abiding citizens through ineffective registration processes and restrictive rules. This lowers the cost of a violent crime for a criminal because the chances of meeting lethal force from the victim is now so low.

Yes, they mentioned some of the challenges but no one has a plan. They don't mention any solutions of their own. I'm glad the average citizen is waking up but do something constructive. According to SARS about 4-5% of the population pays for 80% of all government tax incomes. That is possibly the most "progressive" of all income tax systems in any democracy. The poor pay between 0% and 14% in VAT depending on what basket of goods they buy.

It also has very restrictive gun laws, laws that criminals simply ignore and effectively disarm the law abiding citizens through ineffective registration processes and restrictive rules. This lowers the cost of a violent crime for a criminal because the chances of meeting lethal force from the victim is now so low.

What politicians routinely fail to mention (most likely because they do not understand it) is the destructive impact and the real purpose of bodies like ICASA, NERSA, Dept. of Energy, the Reserve Bank, etc. They are touted as "protectors" and "regulators" yet have been hijacked into protecting Vodacom,MNT, Eskom,SASOL,etc against competition at the expense of all SA consumers.
