I went and saw the ship on Sunday 17/6/07 and the waves are still as high and strong.
It's a full on tourist attraction now, streets of Newcastle were bumper to bumper from about Hunter street down to the beach.
If you want to see the ship but avoid the crowds, go to Stockton and you can look across the river.

That was a hetic storm! we had 189.8mm of rain and 95km/h winds in one night in cessnock (bout 1 hour from this)
