miketehnascarfan your wrong I have been racing these boats for 37 years. These boats aren't hydro boats they are catamaran hulls and they do not have detachable cockpits. After this crash they have changed the rules to make all of the cockpits stronger. The only boats that have detachable cockpits are the Drag Hydros.

This boat was destroyed of hydrodynamic pressure and the cockpit imploded.

@seebold11 HI ! just a question: as this is a rich sport (being supported by massive sponsorships)I wonder why isn't there an extended use of carbonfibers in the cockpit area (as like as in F1 cars).Huge forces are working when such an impact occurs,but today's stuff can resist the hardest crashes,even those coming from a terrific water/boat impact.I guess composite made cockpits shouldn't crack:brutal deceler.could kill though.But that's unavoidable.What's your point ?

The throttleman left the throttle and entered in the water with the back of the boat. the Engines have entered in the cockpit. This has killed the crew ...

Guys, if you had seen the photos of the boat after the crash, you would unerstand why they died.

In my opinion the rescue time was not the problem in this case. But yes, it takes long time.

There is nobody to blame but the boat bulider! The boat was not constructed strong enough! You cannot point at the rescue because the boat came apart. God Bless the drivers and their familys.

@seebold11 no, hydroboats, like this are light, they hydro plane in the air like this all the time, the boat was built correct or they wouldn't have let it race, this was fatal due to no detachable cockpit, once they leave the water, since they are unreodynamic, they flip up and get pushed back by wind, and 85% of the time flip over in a blowover

The rescue diver responce time must have played a part in the deaths of the drivers here surely? My mate is a rescue diver in the choppers here in Newcastle, Australia where these type of boats race and he says a diver should have been out of the chopper and in the water within 60 seconds. The drivers have access to regulators in the boat, but not much good if your knocked out.
