The reason it works is because he is running firmware below 3.0, anything 3.0 or above does not support third party tv out, you only get sound. This is to encourage you to buy an extremely expensive tv out cable from apple for about £40 ($60 in us i think)

hi there!,

since i'm no technician at all, i have no idea, why it doesnt work with your setup - i onl know it worked with mine (maybe, apple stopped that via the ipod touch's firmware update since i tried it?) but i guess, if you buy the new dock, you have to spend additional money on those expansive cable/adapter-stuff. maybe there is a dock from another manufacturer which does the job and is cheaper? dont know, but good luck anyway

@MsTheking1994 It's likely to be some kind of incompatibility between your dock and your iPhone and iPT, as you say it was originally intended to be for an iPod.

Or it could just be faulty.

Try and see if it will work with an old iPod again to determine if it's a faulty AUD or a compatibility problem with newer Apple tech.

i have a normal AV cable (red, white, yellow outputs) could i hook it up to my ipod alarm clock dock (which is Sylvania, not Apple) and hook that up with my ipod touch 3G?

maybe they have changed something with the dock-connector? mine is a ipod touch 1g, so i cant test it

you have to plug in it and when the sound comes out lift the ipod and place it back in the dock try several times

it happened to me also but i did it again and it work by the way work with you tube i manage to make it work with a webpage that display video but i forgot how i did it anyone else knows how?

you might have to go into settings, i dont know if you tried that but you can change the tv signal settings,

hey yeah it works but it depends of the receiver u are using im using my ipod touch 2g 2.2.1 and a phillips dvdr 3506 with tv tuner build in and it works great im so happy

sorry, i really don't know, WHY it workes. according to apples tech-specs it should not work, but it does (at least for me). It is the old ipod-dock, the one with the round ir-receiver, and for whatever reason it works with the ipod touch in standard environment, no cables "patched" or whatever.

It's not fake, or else apple would not sell it. google "apple compposite AV cable" The first result on the list is the apple site!

BTW to the author of the vid: looks pretty good, specially considering the fact that tv's don't look good on video! great quality!
