@fanzappa A converted van which is absolutely waste of money sells new from $25000 and up. A nice used one around $7000. For only $2200-$2700, a side-door platform-lift or an easier electric auto-ramp can do the job of lowering the van, changing the shocks and all other stuff companies rob people over. A person in wheelchair fits inside a van without lowering the floor, at worse bending neck a little.
A 283HP 2012 Grand Caravan starts from $20k & you can find new 2011 models converted for mid 20s. I don't shop for converted vans, as I mentioned to me they're stupid and the sellers are mostly take advantage of disabled people and charge their VA and insurance ton of money, same story as the Medicare robbery by medical suppliers, doctors and hospitals.
@fanzappa When they say 21k retail it means they sell you one fairly equipped for $20k. Found a modified 2008 Grand Caravan for $17,949 that gives you an idea. Look in Craigslist under Cars, type wheelchair. better yet, buy a Segway Wheelchair and a nice Toyota truck with a truck lift that puts the Segway right next to you and forget the van.
@Hesam0000 the mv-1 is a purpose built vehicle, not a cut up and pieced back toghther minivan. it comes with a v-8 engine. it seems far superior to a van conversion. i am thinking about investing in the company. i am imperesed with this vehicle. i saw these last month at my local subaru dealer.
@fanzappa If you have $42000 extra cash you don't know how to burn then go ahead but it's not for me, my car should get over 27mpg and not look like a house.
@fanzappa You can write all 3 comments into 1. No, the handicapped person rides in, then slides from chair to regular drivers seat. The way you do that is to pull the driver's seat all the way back and Passenger seat all the way forward, I'm assuming the wheelchair user has upper body movement. The 2008 and up Dodge are much better, I wouldn't buy pre-2008 dodge vans. 2008 Dodge van purrrs like Honda. I used to drive Corolla in 80s, for the last 15 years only Subaru & Mercedes.
@Hesam0000 i'll write how i like...you assume a lot about handicapped people...you know what they say about assuming...makes an ass of you and me...you are not making a great argument for a mini van conversion over this purpose built MV-1...all you did was explain how you think a handicaped person MIGHT use it. ..you are not that well thought out, are you?
@fanzappa If you write how you like and fill my mailbox you'll get no reply. I don't assume about handicapped people I am one! It may make an ass of you but not me because I know what I'm talking about out of real life experience. I didn't make any argument for minivan conversion you did that, what I wrote was "All minivan conversions are stupid", you asked the prices so I answered. Personally I'll use a Segway wheelchair and use a light ramp to load it in the back of Outback.Goodbye
