the term poplocking comes from way back in hiphop history...there was a group called the electric boogaloo lockers...they mostly locked, but they had two poppers...the audience started calling those guys poplockers...so it's not a new term. but it's technically still wrong.

locking is so loose and funky that it shouldn't necessarily be popped. but hey...it's your dance...do what you want with it. hiphop evolves

lockin was invented by don campbellock in San Francisco in the 1970's

and as far as the dances themselves...they are done to different music and only in the same genre of dance because of who does the dances

It seems to me that guys who pop care more about doing tricks and impressing people than keeping a beat. Guys never dance for longer than it takes to do a few tricks. Girls, on the other hand, ALWAYS keep a beat. They also seem to have more stamina to keep going. I would say the girls won for creativity and actual dancing. The girl with the longest hair moves the best. The guy with the hat has the most control. Neither of the guys did anything I haven't seen done by a billion other poppers.
