  • I want your trumpet.

  • Very Nice!! Wonderful !!

  • He does breath there's two ways you can tell. Watch and listen from 0:25 to 0:31. As he runs out of air the notes sound slightly (and I mean very slightly) pinched. You can also see the stress in his face lol. A typical trumpet players expression when he's hanging on for dear life :) Love this ,and he is an amazing player.

  • @CODallnightlong you do realize he's playing the Rotary trumpet and not the piano right? :P

  • ¡Bravo!

  • either this is fake or not synced well because he takes a breath while he's still playing.

  • @CODallnightlong circular fugging breathing

  • @CODallnightlong you people have obvioslynever heard of a reverb if you ever took sound engineering you would understand these things .. on the other hand i am also a trumpet player its not hard to play for a good 30 measures without breathing

  • Does anyone knows how this piece is called exactly, I can hear it by ear that it's form Baroque most likely Bach. If someone knows feel free to respond my comment.

  • @fisnikbehluli From Baroque and it's by Bach

  • Quite a perfect solo.....

  • @musicalpapist what does a papist do listening around to protestant music :)?

  • @daseladi If I understood your comment correctly, I'm to believe that one cannot enjoy music if the composer is of a different religion than the listener?

  • @musicalpapist It was a joke.

  • I bet he's been playing the trumpet for more than a year.

  • @Nabokov50 ...year and a half at MOST lol

    (sarcasm)

  • Yo Paul Mayes, has anyone ever told you that you look like Jason Jones?

  • Sweeeeet!!!

  • grosse klasse aber das weist du bestimmt selbst.würde gern mal sehen was so beim spielen in deinem mund vor sich geht.

  • holy shiiiiit

  • great job mr huffpuff

  • @wallyllaw you are right: fast tempos are not always the best... anyway, great preformance!

  • WOW!

  • far out man you can really work that trumpet- so much respect.

  • Yumm, rotary piccolo trumpet.

  • Comment removed

  • is it easyer to play that on that type of trumpet?

  • I cannot believe the speed. But maybe too fast?

  • I used to play this on my saxophone [with nowhere as much talent as this! n_n] and I just began picking up on trumpet and I can't imagine playing this!!! Awesome job

  • awesome man baravo!

  • What mouthpiece did you used in this performance?

  • Why is it so heavy. Sounds like a ballerina with concrete boots on.

  • @awreckingball Do you know how tough it is to play that? Grow some balls to play the trumpet thanks.

  • @weiyan94 Hey, don't take it out on others just because you suck and find it tough. Also, learn to speak English you dumb chink. LOL

  • Das Lied ist ja schon sau schwer aber dann noch auf der Trompete und so einen reinen Ton.Nur perfekt 100%Prozentig hammer.

  • he però...

  • Amazing! I can't even play this half that time very well on my violin.

  • Wow! Really great! I hope someday to play half that well!

  • I can't even hum this properly >.>

  • ok - You sir. Are fantastic.

    Wow -

    I'm just reeling at this.

Would love to have you in my orchestra!

  • BRAVOOOO!!!! excellent!!!!

  • mind = blown

  • Colosal !

  • Hundert Prozentig :D Jeder ton mehr als Perfekt =)

  • extremely fine....

  • Bravo!

    :-)

  • Paul, I was thinking it was played a bit too fast however, my music shows it to be played allegro and I'm timing it at about 160 which is in the upper range of allegro on my metronome. Dude, more power to ya! I hope to play it at half that speed some day.

  • wich trumpet is I am from spain and I don't know this kind of trumpet

  • TOO FAST!!! You're technically brilliant but remeber - music is on the first place!

  • @dziabaq Fast can still be plenty musical. Just listen.

  • woowwww... bravo!!!

  • Wahnsinn mit wie viel Leichtigkeit er es spielt !! Ist sogar besser als die Version von Maurice Andre :O

  • Its a Bb soprano trumpet~

  • This guy is good!

  • What kind of horn is that ?

  • whats the piece called of what he's playing

  • He is soooooo good! and fast!

  • Vai tirar o pai da forca é, com tanta pressa?! Assim não dá nem pra fazer as inflexões e articulalções que a música pede.

  • is this a piccolo trumpet ? ;)

  • this video gives to doubt, with great respect, I think it's playback

  • 25 emos não gostam de boa música

  • wow i wish i could do that....

  • Superb work Mr Mayes. A real joy to hear. One of the very few renditions I've heard that compares to Maurice Andre's.

  • You gotta love the Scherzer rotary piccolo trumpet. I am proud to have one. I use it all the time.

  • what instrument is he playing

  • @Hughbi2 rotary piccolo trumpet.

  • one word: WOW.

How do you not pass out from lack of oxygen after that? O_O'

    geez.... superhumans....

  • I love the easyness of this performance, at the same time the technical perfection without any visable effort..

  • Splendid! I haven't any words

  • dude you rule. i just picked up a trumpet today and one day i hope to be as good as this. proper skill. don't let any silly comments put a dim light on your wicked talent :D

  • Impressive

  • I WANT THAT HORN

  • โคตรเทพเลย

    55555

  • I'm speechless. This is so amazing.

One question. DO you breath in through your nose? It seemed like you never took off your lips from the trumpet

  • @seemagics He does breathe but just extremely quick and the movement is so small. You can see him breathe at :17 to :19. He could of used some circular breathing also

  • @randomjohn13

    "could of"

    wat

  • @NovemberBegin I mean he may have used circular breathing throughout some passages.

  • It's not a fake! I think he first recorded the song and after recording he played it again for the camera!

    Is that comprehensible?

  • rotary value trumpet FTW =)

  • Fake !!! he is brething on the video wile his playing in the music:P

  • To @gnilre000: That is called EDITING! Although a bit clumsy, I agree...

  • @gnilre000 not really... where?

  • Never seen a trumpet of such. Nice tone and intonation. Bravo!

  • @paperchasin23

Knowing it's no fake I take that as a huge compliment.

  • Comment removed

  • @huffpuffmusic you should!

  • @paperchasin23 Who the hell do you think you are?

  • @paperchasin23 u know i am tired of people downing on people who can accually play like this i mean honosly i believe he can accually play it there accually some people that can play this great and you who made this comment is a read genius at playing trumpet correct? no? then STFU

  • OY! 11 Kralle - where are you?? I am not weird or crazy, promise! I just want to talk to someone with a brain similar to my own! :-)

  • I think one of my favorite things about Mayes' playing is that his embouchure never moves regardless of how technical the passage is.

  • To@kinshua: Obviously you know brass! I) am 50 - with a long history on keyboard instruments. Do you think I could learn to play the saxophone...? Seriously - physiologically or mentally..? I need a SAX or a CELLO!!

My Dad has built violins for many years, but I have never dared to try any instrument without a keyboard...!

    Advice, please...? Thanks, my friend!

  • @Machru ... I just turned 56 .. picked up the mandolin about a year and a half ago ... @ 3 hours a day ..that includes 9 months on playing on a student piece of junk ... I had some guitar experience and trumpet was my main instrument in school ... which I hadn't played trumpet for 15 years untl last month .... I can read mando music and play well enough to handle this piece too fast as well ...

in answer to your question ... if you can put in the time .. organised ,.,,YES!

  • 22 people seem to have heard to much biber recently

  • I really like this perpormance

  • @swear1down1blud

I gave him the credit to play it much better. If its perfect for you - fine. Maybe you havent been listening to other great interpretations. At least it is a matter of hearing.

  • To @11Kralle: Your arrogance is unbelievable!

  • @Machru

Such as your adoration for mediocre musical skills. Besides - do you really know what arrogance means at all?

  • To @11Kralle: Seven languages behind me, I believe I can interpret most words. I also know what "prat" means!

  • To @11Kralle: Get a life, boy!

  • @Machru

Why? I like wasting my time whilst annoying anonymus Machrus - thats all the life one could want! You should take your own advice instead outing yourself as (...fill in your favorite insult...)! I still wonder which seven languages that would be: floridian, mainish, californian...

  • To @11Kralle: *LOL!!!* I am beginning to like you!! Jeg tror du egentlig er ganske ok! :-)

  • @Machru

Ok, another guess: dansk, svenska, norsk, english, islanska, føroyskt - vielleicht deutsch?

(Lagtysk i tolv dialekter?) Besides: the badinerie is still played too fast, like it or not! I didnt say it was played not well - just not good enough for my taste... Jeg elsker dig ok!

  • To @11Kralle: Du er vel ikke NORSK??? Hjelpe meg! I luuuv you, too, by the way!!

  • @Machru

Ick förtell juch dat giern - ok wenn ick nich glöw, dat de enunsösstich büst - ik kumm ut den schiensten deel af düütschland: Mecklenburg.

  • To @11Kralle: Deutschland! Jawohl!

Tell you what...I think people on here are getting mighty fed up with our banter... :-/ Continue the verbal fighting on Facebook...? Let me know. AND I want to learn more about Mecklenburg!

  • To Kralle: @Machru: Where are you?? No crazy person here - just someone who needs a bit of resistance... I hope I haven't scared you off. Simple lady, really...promise... :-) Just crazy (according to my sons ;-) , practising the piano 6 hours a day - and getting veeery tired of lack of stimulation from boring people... :-)))!

  • @wweiscool11 so many things wrong about that pos.

  • To @marmoset666: Idiot!

  • Comment removed

  • Also notice the thumb valve, which adds tubing to the horn in order to reach notes in the lower register (relative to the piccolo).

  • This is a piccolo trumpet. It is naturally an octave higher. It is also a completely different skill set to play it well (especially with accuracy and hand/eye coordination with rotary valves) and with good tonal quality.

Most german and austrian trumpets have rotary valves because their type of music has a warmer tonal quality as well as a tapered attack, unlike english/french/america military/march style music, which is more suitable with incisive and brilliant pistons.

  • y is it so high i play the trumpet and it is really low but this one is high as heck ?

  • at musikatJorrit, its real. but even if it were fake, SOMEBODY had to play it. thats not possibly a program

  • OMG i have heard this song played by all sorts and nothing has the feel the way this was played. I am in awe, every bit was played to perfection, far out!

  • trumpet in c

  • @facebookfanify i think it has rotary valves instead of the normal trumpet valves

  • wow

  • ...also nur weil man es kann sollte man ein solches Stück nicht so schnell spielen. Sicher ein guter Trompeter, aber übertrieben schnelle Version der Badinerie...

  • awesome !!!!

  • h a ha busdriver

  • i think its fake, you can see at 1:09 he takes a breath but you can hear a high note...the last high note before the end...

  • @musikatJorrit hahahaha

  • @musikatJorrit .... L O L

  • @musikatJorrit it probably could be sound delay

  • @musikatJorrit I believe that he has recorded the audio, and then the video in several takes from different angles, probably miming to the audio track in some instances, to give us the video - much easier than playing the same thing many different times from different angles and trying to splice audio tracks together.

  • @musikatJorrit Its not fake, the audio is just off.

  • @musikatJorrit Do you even play the trumpet.....

  • @johnc9369 jea, i played the trumpet, but now i play tenorhorn, i just recognized it

  • He makes me want to quit playing trumpet.

  • Uallllllllllllllllluuuuuuuu
