John's voice is absolutely breathtaking. Of course, this is not the sole recording that proves that statement beyond the shadow of a doubt, but in this one you can really hear the entire emotional weight of the lyrics and it's just awe-inspiring, flabbergasting and magnificent.
People go on about Kesha, or Beiber, but these guys were and are the greatest thing that ever hit this great Earth. They sing about their experiences and how they see the world, and whatever that matters. Not partying like a dirty monkey or screaming the same word over and over. Plus I can't strain enough how beautiful John's voice was. He was taken way too soon from us. ):
Gosh. THIS VERSION kills me! The first time I heard it was on the credits of the Anthology 6 DVD and I got teary eyes. Strawberry Fields Forever is my favorite Beatles song..but I gotta say that I like this one almost more than the one we all know. It's just so beautiful and gives you a feel of peace and surrealism, just awesome :3
This is definitely my favorite studio version of the song. It retains much of the melancholy and fragility of the early home recordings of the song, imo.
Personally, while I like this version, I prefer the final released version. In the final version, ever instance of the phrase 'Let me take you down' is like pulling you down to deeper level of madness.
Lennon's voice give me chills in this version. :)

John's voice is truly singular. It's beautiful, haunting, hypnotizing, any other superlative you can think of. So lovely.

Am I the only one who finds it really funny how John's “... but it's all wrong” is more sudden in this version? 1:16

This amazing version for sure wouldn't fail to reach the top of the charts in 60's, like the original one.

Not that this version isn't awesome, of course.

I prefer John's angelic natural voice to the modified one...I can't believe how he disliked it so much...
