The 3ds has a magnet inside and also the DS lite when the two DSs are on top of each other youre activating two opposite ends of the magnet when they repel each other therefore the 3ds thinks its open when it's really not

You can ruin your 3ds by doing so. Malfunctions such as 3d display malfunction, along with screen damage and even jamming your 3ds into sleep mode. Then you'd never be able to play 3ds again xP

There is a magnetic piece on all ds systems that puts them in sleep mode. If the 3ds is closed, it will do the opposite.

This is because of the fucking magnet thats in it. If you put it on the top screen of the dslite there's also a magnet and it makes the 3ds believe that that screen's put up again. SCREW IT!!

it's because of the magnets that are in the lids. The DS lite has stronger magnets which activate teh 3DS.

Simple explanation. Sleep mode is activated by the magnets on the 3DS's speakers. When the magnets' magnetic fileds are no longer detected, it awakes from sleep mode and vice versa when it is detected. Two same fields repel each other.

The magnets on the DS Lite are an older type, and they've been worn down a bit, so when reacting to the magnets in the 3DS speakers, there's a magnetic reaction between the 4 speaker magnets, and THAT'S what made the 3DS emit sound when on top of the DS Lite, because it was generating power from the battery... Right? I think i just confused myself.
