I don't ascribe to intelligent design, and I need to find the material which you are critiquing, but I want to point out one point in your video that struck me as odd.
A difference between 96% similarity and 98% similarity is a huge one. To understand how huge, you need to change your thinking from similarity to variability.
A difference between 2% variability and 4% variability is a factor of 2. It'd be like finding out that a person you thought weighed 150 actually weighed 300.
not when you are talking about 'billions'. the differences in the factor of 2 is that when it climbs to 10^20xY it is not all that significant at all. It's like say the universe is 5 billion vs 4.8 billion there really is no difference. do the math there similarity is uncanny. if you like i'll make a video differentiating the similarities on genetic terms
No need. I've got a B.S. in biochemistry and cellular and molecular biology, and I'm about 6 months away from getting my M.D.
A factor of 2 is big, regardless of the magnitude. A factor of 2 is a 100% error.
It's not like the difference between saying the universe is 5 billion vs. 4.8 billion years old. That's a 4% error.
It's like the difference between saying the universe is 5 billion vs. 10 billion years old. That's a big difference, and to suggest otherwise is being less than truthful
what is the point you are trying to make? That Darwin deserves to get pissed on by the now famed "banana man"? What ever man, i appreciate you civility in this matter but you seem to be trolling my channel. I don't understand how you would have a Masters in BIOChem, and think that the origin of species mutilation is not some thing to be alarmed about?
ORLY? do you think after a statement like the first you made, that i would take anything you say seriously afterwards?
I didn't say I have a master's. I have a baccalaureate, and I'm working towards a medical doctorate.
I already said I haven't seen the video to which you're referring, so I'll take your word it's a mutilation.
Your video turned up in my recommendeds. Something you said was inaccurate. A glaring error can make a valid viewpoint seem less appealing, so I thought you'd want to refine your argument for the future.
You don't seem to deal well with criticism, so I'll go now.
OK, so i may have jumped the gun. however, you must understand that scientific processes are under scrutiny quite often. therefore it is tough some times to seed out the trolls from the honest critic. my apologies. please in the future direct corrections to my PM. sorry for the mix up..
No problem. I usually don't youtube for this topic.
In the circles I typically run, people understand that faith and science are two different things, so even among those who ascribe to a faith there are virtually zero biblical literalists. Because of that, I didn't think of the fact that you might assume I was coming at you from under a bridge.
is kewl, BTW in regards to the in captioned topic, the idea is this; in a group of Billions of base pairs 2% is a marginal difference, maybe that is the thing i need to correct, no? I mean i am not exactly an atheist by the definition. however i do realize that respect for science is wise for the health of human life.
Actually, larger numbers make a given percentile more significant, not less.
If your direction's 2% off when running across the lawn, you'll miss by a few inches or feet. If you make the same error when flying to the moon, you'll miss it entirely.
2% of the genome is larger than several entire chromosomes, after all.
I'd say that while 2% vs. 4% is significant, it's still a TINY amount of variability accounting for all the differences among people, and that in no way invalidates the theory.
Man I could get message to them and try to get a set of books to come to Lyon College. That's in Batesville and its really not close enough to any of those colleges. ah well... Ill just buy a legitimate copy sooner or later.
well st louis is soo far away, but i can only miss a single day of class without a reason or i lose a letter grade in two of my classes. If it was on a weekend (which it might be im not sure) I might try to round people up, but thats still a 10 hour drive. shit
You know the funnest thing about this whole thing? Hitler was not a Darwinist. He was a proponent of lamarckism which renders the lions share of this 50 page farce entirely Meaningless.
yeah this garbage wouldn't normally bother me but it's just so underhanded, they guyu isn't even around to defend it, i wish there were some way to find his kin and stop this bullshit
I saw the list on atheistatlarge's video. I know a professor at Rochester university maybe he can help get some students rallied to collect some copies up. Closest to me is 12. Washington University in St. Louis (MO), but it's 4 hours away.
yeah the closest to me (2 1/2 hrs) is Leigh U and me and like 20 ppl are going up to it on the 19th. all day event and an after party. FREE BEER!!!!!! not sure what to do with the contraband items but i am a creative guy......
