  • The fact is when many low level drug dealers have children. If these parents are locked up for having a meager amount of crack cocaine, their parentless children are far more likely to use drugs and will probably end up in prison at some point as well. It's a vicious cycle. Mandatory minimums do not work.

  • Your a felon, the world has turned it's back on you. Your slowly learning empty cliches of of bettering yourself are just empty cliches. Will you take your own life? There is no chance that your going to progress at all. Or do you accept that society will never give you a chance, that you will never better yourself by attempting an honest living and take whatever skills you gathered previous your charge and put it to use for forces adverse the law (drug dealing, organized crime, etc)?

  • @hdjksa52

    ALL HAIL HARRIS AND KLEBOLD!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is all nonsense though because none of the mandatory minimums in Canada relating to drug trafficking are the least bit severe, people are acting like 6 months for selling drugs is some horrendous draconian policy. What people are sick of is people committing terrible violence offences and getting sentenced to a couple years in jail, which ends up as far less due to 2:1 sentencing credit and a rubber stamp parole system.

  • The taxpayers will rise up and use the prisons for the democrats and republicans.

  • I read an article that said Michigan is considering closing 8 prisons and letting inmates out as soon as they are eligible. Michigan is already f*cked up. When these prisons close and prisoners released back to their old communities which DO NOT have jobs for the people living there now, what do you think is going to happen? Michigan is going to be a lawless state.

  • @sumdumfoo1 They couldn't get your job no matter how hard they try. Trust me!

  • If you can let the drug dealers go, why cant you let a convicted murder go whose spent 35 yrs paying for their crime. Seriously the drug dealers are acting like the victims. Whats good for one is good for the other, after all drug dealers kill to.

  • It's called the 650 law, thats anything over 650 grams wich carried life in prison. However the state overturned that law a few years ago, but the M.D.O.C. is not letting alot of those prisoners out on parole due to the fact that they have it in their heads that many of these people are going to go back out and start all over again. I am not one of these people. Most of these cats have been locked up over 10 years... let them out and stop wasting tax payers dollars...
