Fred Thompson is the only conservative in this race, as Rush Limbaugh has pointed out several times. He has the endorsement of the conservative blogging community as well as the National Right to Life committee. As long as the GOP is still a conservative party, Fred should get the nomination hands down.

I have serious issues with his stance on Iraq. He is using the same rhetoric that the democrats used to keep us in Vietnam for way too long. I also dislike politicians who exaggerate the threat of terrorism and run on the politics of fear. Al Qaida blew their wad on 9/11 and pose little if any threat to us these days.

For some reason he has got it into his head that Huckabee fighting very successfully against a 90% Democrat majority and the Clinton dynasty in Arkansas is a sign that he is liberal. Huckabee governed very right wing in Arkansas, just imagine if he had been in a conservative state. Huckabee will be Rush's hero in eight years when he has proven the Republican elite wrong just like Reagan did so many years ago.

Huckabee is a pro-life democrat. He had a more liberal record than Bill Clinton did in Arkansas. He increased spending by 65% and taxes by 47% and gave instate tuition breaks and actual scholarships to illegal aliens. He's had 14 ethics violations and has pardoned 1000+ criminals on the basis that they were born again christians and without reviewing their files. Tell me where he is a conservative, please.

I was in Seneca, S.C. recently and all around town I saw Fred Thompson signs in people's yards.  I remember only seeing 1 ron paul sign and 1 Huckabee sign. By "good" I mean winning the nomination if you want to be picky about it.

Since he's been the only candidate who has been in Iowa straight for the last 20 days, I'd say he has plenty of enthusiasm. While the media has focused on the political fighting between campaigns, Fred has been the only one concerned about real issues facing our nation. I think he has a real good chance especially after that poll that only puts him 6 points behind Huckabee in Iowa.
