they were normal prop sabers, the blades coming out effect was just pictures moved to look like they pop out.

The blades popping out was a visual effect. I know because I did the effect.

It's not a visual effect, those are custom made dueling light sabers. You can order them from certain companies online. Ryan Wieber from RVD has his own company that makes those types of lights sabers.
