Actually, you're both wrong. Technically speaking, you have ARTERIES that leave the heart without oxygen (its blue at that time), pass through the lungs to get oxygen (it turns red), and then goes through the body. When blood give the oxygen to the body, it turns blue again and returns via VEINS. And before you question my authority, I am in med school, so I do know about this stuff.

Oh and it isnt a theory, its a fact. They have sent micro-cameras through the blood stream to prove this stuff.

If you search google for deoxygenated pigs blood you'll find an image with two conical flasks; one with O2 and the other with CO2. You'll also notice the deoxygenated blood is a dark red colour NOT BLUE. The reason blood vessels appear blue above the skin is for the same reason as to why a red sun creates a blue sky: skattered light (there is a fat in the skin which causes the scattering).

Blood is never blue. Red blood cells contain haemoglobin which is a red colour, which gives blood its colour. They are red whether they are carrying blood or not! I hope I never have you as my doctor!

Dude, Hemoglobin doesn't give the blood color. All it does is give the cell the ability to carry oxygen. If you take a close look at the respiratory system, after the blood gives the oxygen to the muscles, the blood does in fact turn blue until it goes through the lungs again.
