  • big bill carter and co were 30 years ahead of their time... one of the five most underrated bands ever!

  • got the LPs !

  • That is ironic. I must have been watching this at the same time the poster did back then LOL .I recorded it as well on VHS. Talk about posterity. That tape has been long gone since then.Thank you for posting this! Really got my attention then. Love that double time beat. Its funny really, that video didnt get a lot of air time so getting it on tape was fortunate for sure.I doubt if it played more than 4-5 time if that even.

  • This sounds like the Clash lead singer

  • Chris Thompson bass player with SBM is gigging and recording with his band KILLER B’S.

Album out now on track records!

Find them on Facebook and Myspace.

  • Bill Carter doing some James Brown moves at 1:34

  • Bill Carter. Charles Barkley's long lost white twin brother.

  • Wil-Ma!

  • "Dino is my dinosaur, his head's in the kitchen, his tail's out the door..." The Eighties; golden age of music imho and SBM never really got the appreciation they deserved.

  • I have this on vinyl LP.

  • You Rule thanks for posting the Vid.from 120 min. a great show for a lot of different groups...........Aloha.

  • My awesome friend directed me to this vid! :D

  • Big Bill Carter and Co. were R&B Gods. Hands down.

  • Classic! Still as fresh as the day it was recorded...Yabba-Dabba-Doo Time!

  • It's funny...I recorded this off 120 min too! Except my tape is just about shot!

  • Great video! Too bad the end was cut short.

  • Abso-freakingly-lutely classic!

I want this played at my funeral....

(I always had a thing for Betty...)

  • Haven't seen this in like what...over 20 years?! Great catchy tune!! :)

  • Nice to see 2 of their albums, (Bikini Red and Gun Shy) are back in print on CD.

  • Comment removed

  • I LOVED this band - very underrated IMO!! This was a wonderful clip!! Thanks for posting!

  • Big Bill Carter and the gang are Gods!

  • i havn't heard this for over 20 years,its a great tune

  • my dad has the picture disc too :')

  • i have this track on 12 inch picture disc, i saw them live supporting david bowie

  • Holy fuck!

I've been looking for this song forever!

I heard it back in the late '80's on an independent radio station and haven't gotten it out of my head since. I thought I was crazy for remembering it....

    AND HERE IT IS!

    Fuckin' RAD!

  • Is Bam Bam related to Emeril?

  • Forgotten classic...

  • Awesome, thanks so much!

  • You can still get the song (at least) on "The Flintstones" movie soundtrack (easy to find, but out of print). Also the excellent extended version of "I Wanna Be A Flintstone" is available on the compilation Retro:Active: Rare And Remixed (still in print).

  • Thanks Obtuse, I've been looking for this everywhere!

  • Great song! I still have the cassette 'Bikini Red' from them. i hope they put it out on CD also.

  • Bikini Red totally rocks ,,yeah totally !!

    wooo hooo !!

  • Thank you for posting this. Awesome, since I lost my cassette of this a long time ago and you can't purchase these guys anymore. Shame.

  • yeah i saw these guys open for echo and the bunnymen in 1987, great show. i remember seeing this vid on 120 mins too. thanks.

  • Thanks for this. I remember the tune well and it's still great. Pity the opening guitar riff is missing on this upload because it's electrifying.

  • Interesting to see this. The original (more adult) version of the video is on my YouTube page, directed by Giblets. The record company thought it was too scary to use.

  • I remember this...........f/n great!!!!

  • Gun Shy and Bikini Red are 5 star albums.

  • I still think my best CD find was finding "Gun Shy" in a since closed Coconuts for the princly sum of $4.99, and this was in 2003!

  • Great album and still have on cassette.

Is the other album still so good is this one

  • This may have been their novelty song but I remember the album it came from. It was called "Bikini Red" and the very next song was a real kicker called "Jesus Chrysler Drives A Dodge"! A great album that I hope to see on CD one of these days.

  • Can anyone add SBM's clip of "Twin Cadillac Valentine"? A real great song!

  • you can easily buy all screaming blue messiahs recordings on CD by visiting the Motor Boys Motor fan website and then following the Blue Heaven link on the home page.

  • It's hard to find but the Screaming Blue Messiahs put out a live cd on the Windsong label. It's an amazing speaker-shredding performance.

  • As far As I know, they did 3 albums....Gun Shy, Bikini Red , Totally Religious plus a John Peel Session EP with a DEVASTATING version of 'Someone to Talk To' that kills the version on Gun Shy.

  • how was this not on the flintstones movie soundtrack?

  • ummm, because everything about the flintstones movie sucked goat balls, that's how.

  • It was.

  • Take a photo loop of anything -your dog or cat and post it with Bikini Red songs , please just get them out to us. I lost a mint copy of this album-really liked the band---it only seems like yesterday ,but its been 12 years since,I've heard any of this!

  • This band were totally under-rated. Is that the correct spelling. Who cares. I'm just amazed that they didn't take the world by storm. Please..please blokes..if you have an ounce of human compassion...REFORM IMMEDITELY! I have this track on 12" clear vinyl. B side is even better.

  • Does anyone have the clip to Twin Cadillac Valentine? That song was awesome...

  • First heard the song in '88, but never saw the video until now. I kind of prefer the 'Weirdly' version that the song has...and was skipped in the video.

  • This is the worst thing these guys ever did. If you want to hear the Messiahs balls out and absolutely true, check out the way "Sweet Water Pools" from the Bikini Red album kicks off. That's all you need to know. Brilliant, brilliant live act. Never got what they deserved. I've been into Bill Carter's shit since "Motor Boys Motor" and the fucker rules. Apart from this. Hope you boys are alive and well and thanks for the memories.

  • How many albums did they do? I have their first (and only?) one. Never seen anything since.

  • yaaaaaaaaaay!

  • I am so glad I came accross this...Kenny Harris, the drummer is my best friends brother...I have just e-mailed her this vid!!

  • Cool Syd.....looking forward to it!! The Messiahs have a my space site too!

  • I have the video for Bikini Red and will upload it as soon as I can. Either tonight or Thursday. Thanks for the comments.

  • best bet is a used record shop then burn it on cd

  • one of the great lost bands nothing seems to be available anywhere someone get on the case pleasssse

  • did these do a song called lie detector?

  • futuristic fierce rock and roll. the messiahs set a new standard.

  • Anyone have "Twin Cadillac Valentine?"

  • Good and gone is still a great record

  • I remember seeing them live. Great show.

  • i really want to see their appearance on The Whistle Test. Someone please post it

  • this is their "novelty song" but this band was amazingly underrated in the world of music. do yourself a favor and find their vinyl.

  • i agree with you Rawk. these guys kicked ass in a big fuckin pounding sonic way. they recorded 3 albums. all of them are righteous.

  • Amen Bro I seen these guys in concer back in the day and they pwned the headliner Echo and the Bunnymen(blech) get their albums Gun Shy and Bikini Red in particular

  • would if i could
