  • Thanks for the help! I got it figured out

  • nice pickin id have to say all around great cover of this JP song.....loved it

  • You are great!! I'm from Texas where Prine doesn't come around too often, but when he does, I am there. I can't find Crazy as a Loon anywhere online. If you could play that song and post it, it would be great. Keep up the good work!!

  • @hamann907 Thanks for the kind words! There are a few versions of "Crazy As A Loon" on YouTube, including a fine cover by Bright Eyes, titled "Bright Eyes Crazy As A Loon AOL Sessions" It's another fine three-chord Prine song that I'll get around to playing at some point.

  • Top notch. Didn't expect to find something this good on here. I was prepared to laugh actually when I saw someone covering Prine's classic. Very, very good. It's flows so well. Thanks for posting this.

  • Enjoyed the tune!!! Thanks

  • great job i love john prine!i'm only 19 but me and my dad always used to listen to him...he's on tour in my province and all the places were sold out i was so sad i couldn't get tickets. christmas in prison is one of my favourite songs by mr prine, really great job!!

  • I love this version. it's one of my favorite John Prine songs.

  • Very well done sir.

  • wow nice theres a realness to your style i really like... very Genuine

  • Thanks for your reply. I had a John Prine cassette and I can remember he had what I would describe as a wirey voice, I and can remember singing his songs, better, if I was suffering from a sore throat, which was almost the same as his!

I'll have to practice playing again!

    Regards

    Alan, Romford, Essex UK

  • I like your style! Wish there was a place around here where there was talent such as yourself playing! :o)

  • I've found that many guitar players of my age have at least a couple or few Prine songs in their repertoire, but you'll usually find them around campfires as opposed to in licensed establishments.

  • This was the very first song I sang at the Hermit Folk Club in Brentwood, Essex, UK some 28 years ago!

  • Play it one more time and share it with us on YouTube! And please alert me when you do. The more John Prine covers on YouTube the better, I'd say.

  • really nice cover, good tribute!

  • I'm impressed... a very solid performance. Thank you.

  • Thank you, Andrea!

  • Very good version!

  • Hi, I just came to your videos through your original John Prine videos (just ordered 2 dvd's of him). But you do a great job on it as well!! Keep up the good work!

    Greetings from Holland,

    Rachel

  • Dank u veel, Rachel- I'm assuming you've ordered the "Sessions at West 54th" and "Soundstage 1980" DVDs. I think I prefer the "West 54th" video of the two, but they are both very enjoyable.

  • Yes those are the two I've ordered. I'm very anxious to see them, but I've been able to see parts of it on Youtube and I really like Bruised Orange and In spite of ourselves with Iris DeMent. So I think I'm going to enjoy both!

    Greetings Rachel

  • Easily the best cover of Christmas in Prison that I have ever heard. Where would we be without John.

  • It somehow just occurred to me recently that I first picked up a guitar originally because I wanted to learn a couple of John Prine songs.

I've had so many good times and met so many good friends over the years of playing these songs that I don't know where I'd be without John.

  • Wow, this is the best cover of one of my favorite Prine songs. Guitar and singing great.

  • Nice cover, loved it !

  • Thanks, kev!

  • Jordan the cat- I'v been enjoying your john prine videos for a while now. Just saw you play. Really nice!!!! thanks . Your'e cute too. I'm seeing John in May in Manhattan. Can't wait.

  • Thanks for the nice comments and sorry to hear about your failing eyesight.

Have fun at the concert in May, and I'm sure you will. John Prine's shows are always full value.

  • my eyesights ok. I'm at work so I need to input all day on the computer. I just listen and occassionally take a peek!

  • Scrabble? Really?

Apart from that, excellent job! Wish I could play like you.

    Prine is God!

  • I sang that for my girlfriend, my "Scrabble Queen," who has become as big a Prine fan as I am.

  • Man - good job! & I love Christmas in Prison! You know, the song, haven't actually experienced the real thing - never will I hope.

  • I've found that a good way to avoid it is: "always be a good boy, don't ever play with guns." Lots of wisdom to be found in some of the older songs, isn't there?

  • Brilliant guitar but why change the game from chess to scrabble?

  • For Trish. My girlfriend is a Scrabble maniac.

  • Right, that explains it then.

    Get her into chess! :)

  • hey! i'm back watching........still good....

  • Another great post.

    Thanks. I enjoy your work.

  • Looks like you like Prine as much as i do. check out some of my videos. look up (craig Henry)
