  • Hypnotizing.

  • Thank-you for your comments. I'm glad you are finding them useful.

  • My bongo's are crap and I cant get a decent tone out of them at all. These video's are amazing though! Thanks Trevor!

  • AWSOME!!!!!

  • great thanks

  • is this hythm 5|8

  • No. It is usually written as two bars of 4/4.

  • what song is it?

  • girl from ipanema

  • do you think you can play that? haaha

  • The kind of bongos does make a difference. I use several LP

models and JCR. You really need to crank the macho very high to get a good sound. It should almost sound as if glass is breaking.

  • i really like your teaching, I have a bongo aspire to, I just want to know how long will it take for the skin of the macho to wareout? I've been watching your video and practicing the martillo and the bosa for 3 days now. And my hands are now aching. Could you pls show the bosa nova pattern in slow motion? pls. ty.

  • Thank-you to all of you for your support. I'm glad you are enjoying my DVDs, CDs and books with Mel Bay Publications.

More to come. Here are some answers to your questions.

This pattern could be used on congas with a few modifications. However, I prefer to use the marcha or a Cha-Cha pattern when playing Bossa Nova on congas.

  • Hi Soccer. I have Aspire too. Trevor played them and said they were OK. Maybe you just need to tune them a little higher. Make sure you lower the tension after finish playing. Happy playing and Hi to Trevor from Vancouver BC Canada.

  • Hola Amigos! I have a LP Matador and played for about a year and still don't know much about tension limits. I have the standard heads that came with the bongos. I have tried to get the good high pop sounds on the macho. There was only one vid on E and G tuning. I tried to match the sounds on the vid but worried about heads breaking without knowing the limits. My techniques fine. Any insight before I crank away and crash it!

  • I've torn so many macho bongo skins, I just replace them with xrays (I've heard that's what Cubans do so that's good enough for me). At the moment I play martillos on my husband's spine. Get that popping sound no worries!

  • graciassssssssss

  • does it matter what kind of bongo you have? mine dont sound as good as his. I have LP Aspire. Im guessing a good bongo makes a big difference... is this true?

  • muy bueno, gracias.

  • Awesome... keep it coming please!

  • im planning on buying the rest of youre books, i already have the art of bongo drumming and the bongo book. but the demo vids are very helpful, thanks TREV!!!!!!

  • Can i use these patterns to play congas???

  • Very nice technique. I just purchased bongo basics and beyond!!! I would love to see his demo for merengue.
