Shirley sounds great in the studio... but she's one of those amazing artists that just sounds even better live. When she's live you really get a sense of the power and emotion in her voice and her great range!

Yeah her voice is definitely much clearer without the studio - or even live effects. I love both versions. Depends how hard I want to rock out to the song :)

If you're listening for her voice though, this would be the way to go.

I really like this version. This was one of the first songs i buckled down and really tried to learn to play on guitar. It's nice to hear Shirley without any effects in her loop as well. Most of the time i think she uses alot of reverb, and delay & echo type of effects. (as do alot of singers) I think it's a great treat to hear her "clean". Almost like being in the recording booth with her.

I think the part that makes me smile the most is that it sounds like butch is playing the "drums" by what sounds like tapping a table surface.

The only effect on her voice in this version is some slight compression, but that's only so that her voice isn't drowned out by the other instruments. In the studio, she overdubs her voice on separate tracks, and during live performances she uses a chorus effect. I *wish* I was in the recording booth with her. lol

I don't think it was so much modified . I just think that in this version we can hear it more closely.I think that the only song with modified voice is cherry lips.
